Region Result Thread

Although these results are always archived on texasmusicforms, I would like to put all the results as they come out in a large thread to allow people to discuss them and their predictions for the upcoming area and state contests

Can someone who knows more about the rules please explain advancement more to me. There's a lot of regions where the minimum of 2 bands in a class getting a 1 isn't being reached, and I believe according to the rules that would mean the next highest band(s) will advance to area, but I am not sure if I understand this rule properly. Can someone please confirm that this is correct?

Please help me add to this and correct me if I have something wrong!

*Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe under current rules, not sure because I'm just a student here, if less than 2 bands in 2A-6A at region, the next highest placing band(s) advance to area too. Someone please correct me if I have this wrong.

Ugh, how bad do you truly have to be as a band to get a 3 rating?  Seems like you'd almost have to try real hard to be that bad!  Am I wrong?  Is it harder than it seems to get at least a 2?

Not all the bands have the same resources. Some have little to no funding to hire good instructors, instruments, etc. Some of these schools are also in rougher neighborhoods where band isn't a priority.

I wasn't trying to be snooty if it came across that way.      It just seems in this day and age of "everybody gets a participation trophy" that UIL gives out 1's like it's candy.  I always feel bad when I hear a 2 rating announced at UIL.  But a 3?  I've never even seen a band get a 3.  It makes me sad, really.

Yeah I agree. Some programs just struggle more than others.

I played in region 11 and the competition below 4A is admittedly kinda weak. I see these bands and just hope they do better next year bc really everyone just wants to see good shows

I'll be headed out to Gupton stadium in a few hours to check out all of LISD in Region 32 UIL. Haven't seen Cedar Park in nearly a month, and am anxious to see what the rest of LISD has been up to this week!

Liberty-Eylau made a 2, yet again.

 

I went to LE and it always makes me a bit sad that we're the only band in our town that makes a 2. Especially since we did very well at every other contest prior to.

 

But oh well, I've come to expect us to get a 2, 2, 1. Except for 2015, which was our one magical year of getting a 1, 1, 2 instead.

I'm from Texarkana too, and I can say without a doubt LE was 1st division this year, I didn't get to see the region performance live so I can't say if it just went bad during the run or the results just ended up like that, but when I saw it live earlier at NETX I honestly thought it was the best performance LE had in years. Next year I really hope they get it because they are a highly improved group from years past and have put out a great product this year.

As I watched the live stream I couldn't notice too many things going bad (except for a few colorguard errors), but I don't really know. It honestly seemed like a best run of the season.

Sorry.. Region 24 is in area B. The bands would be Prosper, Wakeland, Centennial, Liberty, Heritage, etc... so the Frisco school. All schools received a 1 rating. And they all should get extra credit... the wind was brutal!

Also for region 11 I believe the scores for Carizzo Springs and Dilley needs to be switched. The website for the areas results says that dilley advanced but not carizzo springs

I had Carrizzo Springs in the wrong class, but according to UILs own score website Dilley still got a 3rd division, which would mean they did not advance to area since more than 1 3As in that 3A got 1s.
