Rudedog34 Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 Yeah the weather is really a bummer this year. Even though the Austin, San Antonio, and Houston areas are getting more rain, some North Texas schools have yet to perform at a football game. I was at the Grand Prarie vs Keller football game and there were hardly any other audience members in the stands and we ended up getting dumped on by the rain for a few minutes. The band didn’t get to perform with the front ensemble and I talked to some parents after and it was the first time they actually got to perform the show. I really hope the weather doesn’t effect contests. Quote
Rudedog34 Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 Weird. The only performance Henny has had was out of district in Waxahachie. Should have performed at the Westwood game. Quote
LeanderMomma Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 Leander has been fortunate to perform 3 weeks in a row now. The rain just keeps skirting around us. Quote
MadisonBandMan1 Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 We performed IN the rain on Friday. Had a really good run too. BTW our band helped end Smithson Valley’s game winning drive by playing our opening impact as loud as we could as the they were right in front of us on third down and just over a minute left in the game. We played so loud it caused them a false start and they got pushed back and the field goal on the ensuing play bounced off the uprights and out of play. It was awesome and our football team went crazy. Definitely a memorable night! Quote
PSHSMom Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 Unfortunately even when there has only been a slight chance of rain the last two weeks the sky's seemed to open up in Plano (and surrounding areas) just around game time... so lightning delays and lots of rain for the games. And of course, it's been sunny the last few days but there is 60% change of rain on Friday evening again... hope we the get 40% clear skies this time, LOL. Quote
Astros Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 Mother nature is winning without the flood this year. Rain in forcast again this weekend! Unfortunately after 3 games band only got on field once. If the football team had picked up the pace of the games ( a ton of penalties, time outs, and running pass plays that end up being incomplete thus stopping the clock when the end result is already determined. I'm sure the band would have performed all 3 weeks. Marching band importance is way down on the list here. Quote
LostChoirGuy Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 We could use the rain here in Utah. Send it this way! Lots of fires and people evacuated from their homes near me. Quote

sop153063 Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 I think there's a decent chance that either Flower Mound, Hebron or Marcus will win and at least one of those three will also medal. A medal sweep like 2016 would not be the most shocking thing ever, though the competition does just seem to get more and more intense, and Vandy, Keller, Reagan and Leander are certainly in the hunt. Will be VERY interesting to see how this contrasts to BOA San Antonio just a few days before it. I definitely think there's a possibility of CTJ being next level clean this year, what with them performing their whole show at Midland this early in the season! Quote

Crown2018 Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 I could really see vandy taking it this year after their huge success last year Quote
bingogooberman Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 now that we've seen most of big contenders, I like Flower Mound for the repeat state title. I don't see them coming out on top in BOA, but their execution was near perfect this past weekend at Bedford, the design is very UIL friendly and those white pants really highlight how great their marching technique is. Vandy and Reagan also look like potential champions. Hebron's show might be too difficult to clean to UIL standards but they're definitely in the mix. I like Hebron for the Super Regional title, though. Quote
Bandwoww Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 I think top 5 could very well be the same as 2016 if UIL really likes Marcus this year. If they don’t, Reagan can easily take a top 5 spot. I think groups like Leander and The Woodlands will excel at BOA like they did in 2016 but will sit right outside the top 5 as well. I see another top 5 finish from Keller and because they always seem to surprise at the end of the season, a medal isn’t out of the question in my opinion. I really couldn’t predict how CTJ will do. Omega Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 I’m not here to predict anything I just want to say I’ll be getting to go to finals! Aside from TMC in 2017 (which was awesome don’t get me wrong) this will be my first contest to watch live (normally I just use FloMarching) and I am so excited! Can’t wiat to meet some of y’all there and guys this is going to be a show to remember! LeanderMomma 1 Quote
Set15 Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 Now that BOA shows have taken place, I wonder if anyone has any new predictions? I would honestly love to see more variety in state finals this year, but with how competitive it is, who knows... TubaMomof1 1 Quote

I need to see Hebron and FloMo again and Marcus for the first time before I can make any predictions myself, not that mine matter a hill of beans. JeremiahW 1 Quote

I would honestly love to see more variety in state finals this year, but with how competitive it is, who knows... In 2016, Round Rock, L.D. Bell, Coppell and North Shore made finals, and I could see all four getting bumped out, especially with bands like Vista Ridge, Cedar Ridge, Hendrickson and Bowie missing the cut last time, and their hunger for blood this season. herbaflerb 1 Quote

Agreed. The only show of those four that I’ve seen is Bowie, but I’ve heard good things about Vista Ridge and Cedar Ridge. I’m surprised that I haven’t heard much about Hendrickson this year other than that they got a new director (?) and they’re adjusting to that change, but I’m expecting them to be back on track by the time State rolls around (if that’s true). MikeKyu Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 Vista and Cedar Rodge both look solid right now. Hendrickson has an extremely entertaining show that maybe has gine slightly overboard in the solo department. FaultLineBlues 1 Quote

Bandisdope Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 Reagan, Vandegrift, Keller, Flowermound, Hebron, Marcus, Woodlands, Leander, LD Bell, Vista Ridge, Coppell, Cedar Ridge, Hendrickson, Bowie, Round Rock, Prosper, Timber Creek. 17 bands that could easily make finals + many more. My personal predictions: 1. Reagan 2. Flowermound 3. Hebron 4. Leander 5. Woodlands 6. Vandegrift 7. Vista Ridge 8. Keller 9. Marcus 10. Cedar Ridge 11. LD Bell 12. Bowie 13. Coppell 14. Hendrickson 15. Timber Creek 16. Round Rock 17. Prosper Honestly, 10-17 could go anyway depending on prelims performances. Quote
Samuel Culper Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 Will there be 12 bands in Finals, or has that changed? Quote

Maybe the only school in the country that's already won 2 BOA regionals.... Quote
