Completely forgot about the reigning BOA San Antonio champs, I'd place them perhaps behind Reagan, but it's honestly a toss up between 1-6 Quote

Set15 Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 I’m not sure if this is the place to ask and I apologize if it’s a stupid question, but I’ve always wondered- how are performance times determined for the State contest? I recall Hebron getting a rough performance time two years ago (I believe Cy-Fair’s was even worse) and I was wondering if anything factors into that. I know the smaller BOA contests have the winner of the previous year go last- does UIL do anything similar? Or is it just random? Quote

Areas draw for times in the State Schedule, then the Area advancers draw from those times. Quote
azn Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 I'm still largely baffled how a band can jump from 32 to 8th Quote

Dosh24 Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 FloMo places 9th in state finals in 2014. Quote
Guest Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 Flowermound has only been at state twice, and has never placed below 9th. Quote
northtexasbandfan Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 Really, really, REALLY thought FloMo’s first trip to State was going to be in 2012 with “The Greatest Show” (the circus one). Area B had 5 slots to advance to 5A State that year. In prelims, FloMo was 3rd, behind only Marcus and Hebron. In finals ... fell to 7th, as Plano East, Bell, Richland and Haltom all jumped over them. Never saw so many tears.... Quote
Bandisdope Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 A lot of this is when bands "break out". You saw Hebron do it in around 2012, Flomo did it in 2013/2014. Perhaps Timber Creek does it this year, who knows? Also bands have years in which they spike really high and die down, like LD Bell, Coppell, and Aledo. Quote

Fwguard17 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 1. Hebron 2. Reagan 3. Leander 4. Vandegrift 5. Flowermound 6. CTJ 7. Vista Ridge 8. The Woodlands 9. Marcus 10. Keller Quote
aaron067 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 There will most likely be 12 finalist bands in 6A. Quote
meursault Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Keep in mind we could very much have 12 finalists again! Quote

Gogogo Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Can Bowie use their balloon props or is the balloon prohibition for small balloons Quote
Band2013-2 Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 Balloons can not be used if they are inflated with helium, this includes any size. Marcus in 2011 had Balloons on sticks that made them appear like they floated so if Bowie has those types of prop's then yes they can use them if not then sadly no. Quote
BandFriendzz Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 Wait so Bowie can’t use those props ? Quote
