josephbandfan Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 Man there were a lot of surprises today. I've been looking at results and finding myself jaw dropped. Quote
Nny14 Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 So I'm thinking Flower Mound, Hebron, Vista Ridge, Vandegrift, and Reagan fight it out for the medals. gregorydf01 1 Quote

TubaMomof1 Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 I have dug around and can't seem to find any info....Does anyone know the regulations for what spectators can bring to UIL State in terms of spirit items? Thank you! Quote

Thank you! Balloons are prohibited. There is an actual regulation written for this. Generally, you don’t want to bring spirit items that will make a lot of noise (cow bells, air horns). Quote

Thank you! I know that the Alamodome will not allow you to bring in anything with a rigid stick. If you have a poster with a holding stick or for bracing, they will make you remove them at the entrance. As far as noise makers - Cow bells, ratchets, air horns, or anything else - I don't know what is allowed, but many judges hate them. If you want to risk your band's chances by doing that, it's your choice. When someone in my kid's band was using a cow bell, the judge highly criticized us for allowing our parent to do it. These guys are sitting there all day viewing band after band and to risk irritating them is just not worth it. Excessive yelling and screaming out messages to your child is not a good thing as well. Tell them you love them in person. They are on the field concentrating on doing their best and don't need the distraction, either. Quote
TubaMomof1 Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 I figured as much on the noisemakers although every area contest I've gone to has a contingent of fans that uses them. So a poster size sign is ok?? Quote

Bandisdope Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 1. Ronald Reagan 2. Flowermound 3. Vista Ridge 4. CTJ 5. Vandegrift 6. Hebron 7. Woodlands 8. Keller 9. James Bowie 10. Leander 11. Marcus 12. Coppell 13. Waxahachie 14. Hendrickson 15. Westlake 16. Cedar Ridge 17. Prosper 18. Pearland 19. Round Rock 20. Seven Lakes 21. Oak Ridge 22. Duncanville I'd say Coppell and Reagan's spots could change mainly due to their early times, but when has either of them not made State Finals? Interesting to see how Leander does considering their performance at area, same with Keller. Quote

MarchingBandNerd Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 A lot of y’all are predicting Waxahachie to do really well. I’ve never seen any of their shows and we’ve never had to compete with them though, so I can’t make much of a judgement. Just out of curiousity, what makes them so good? Quote
