NETexasBandFan Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Just a little number counting from these two links https://web.archive.org/web/20160305140500/http://uil100.org/archives/music/marching-band.php https://www.uiltexas.org/music/marching-band/state 1st: Sundown- 7 (1987, 1988, 1989, 2003, 2005, 2009, 2011) 2nd: Argyle- 6 (2003, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014) Tie for 3rd: Denver City- 5 (1983, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989) Tie for 3rd: Dickison- 5 (1986, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1993) Tie for 3rd Marcus-5 (2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014) Tie for 3rd Westfield (1987, 1988, 1989, 1996 1998) Honorable Mentions- Dripping Springs- 4 (1983, 1984, 1985, 2009) Cedar Park- 4 (2001, 2011, 2015, 2017) Queen City- 3 (2007, 2009, 2011) Robinson- 3 (1984, 1994, 1996) Canton- 3 (2002, 2004, 2006) Duncanville- 3 (1986, 1990, 2002) Georgetown- 3 (1983, 1984) Holliday- 3 (1993, 1999, 2001) Iraan- 4 (1986, 1987, 1990, 1991) Longest Streak to exist I believe would be Marcus, as they obtained all 5 of their state championships in a row. The longest standing streak would go to Cedar Park, with 2 state championships in a row. I would also like to list bands with the most apperances at state, but as there are no reliable full results from before 2009, it would be hard to make. Quote

I just realized I read "Flower Mound Marcus Lewisville" thinking it was Flower Mound, and not Marcus from Flower Mound. As for Westfield, are Spring Westfield and Houston Westfield the same school? They're listed as two such schools in the archive. Quote
Amusicman Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Yes, those are both the same school. Spring High school, which won the 5A state championship in 1992 and 1994 is in the same school district. Quote

Gonna brag on my old school real quick, Poteet has won 3 times ('97, '05, and '07) and been to State 14 times and qualified for 15 (we were kept from attending in 2011 for an "ineligible marcher"). Every state year since 1990! P.S. All have been in old 4A/new 5A P.P.S We've medaled 6 times *somewhat humble brag* Quote
takigan Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 Georgetown won 4A in '80, '81 and '82 as well, but I don't know if you would count the pilot years before '83. If we did, that would also mean they also hold the record streak at 6 ('80, '81, '82, '83, '84, '85).'825A - Odessa Permian4A - Georgetown3A - Medina Valley2A - Clint1A - LBJ'815A - Crockett4A - Georgetown3A - Waco Robinson2A - Southlake Carroll1A - Iraan'805A - Crockett4A - Georgetown3A - Medina Valley2A - Howe1A - Iraan (this would bump their total to 6 as well)'794A - Round Rock3A - Fredricksburg2A - Medina Valley1A - Southlake CarrollDug these out of the Leaguer archive. I would absolutely love to see that. Quote
takigan Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 Only the top 5. I think that's where they pulled the results from that were quoted on the old SMBC official archive on the UIL website before they took it down. Quote

It is where I got it, I wish they would leave these archives up because some results are so hard to find. Quote
