They're probably being yelled at day after day to clean something that is virtually uncleanable. Quote

It ain't over till it's over. Of course not. Anything can happen. Also, there are realities that will play out and likelihoods that are already in play. And this is a trend that started years ago. Do the research and you will see it. Not saying I want this, but I can see it and I have seen it coming for a long time. I actually really want to see this change for them very much. Quote

"They" which I'll assume you mean the kids ARE doing the best they can with what they are given - props and electrical mishaps - not their fault. "Being yelled at" is a pretty strong accusation that again is rude and disrespectful. Period. Quote

Sometimes you have to be honest and admit when a show design isn't fantastic. Of course the way he said it was blunt and to the point, but I don't think it was rude. Nny14 1 Quote

"Being yelled at" is a pretty strong accusation that again is rude and disrespectful. Period. I WAS part of that band. I agree, the kids are doing their best as they always do. I understand the events that have happened are not in their control, nor have I blamed it on them. I'm simply calling out a product that I don't think is very good, competitively or just enjoyable in general. Again, NOT because of the kids. As for the yelled at part I didn't mean to imply the kids are being verbally abused in any sort of way. The educators there are great people and have always been respectful to the students, so I apologize for that exaggeration. However, I will not apologize for my feelings on the product this year. The reality is design is THE most integral part of a successful marching band show, and there is only so much effort from the kids that will improve that. CTJBandPops and Hard Core Band Fan 2 Quote

I don't think he meant any disrespect, he was merely commenting on the quality of the show itself, not of the directors, of the students, or of anyone else involved in this program. A bad show can severely limit any good band's ability to compete. I think that was his main point. We are likely advocates of your program way more than you know. Nny14 1 Quote

I'm definitely a blunt person, I'll acknowledge that. Just know I take no pleasure in harping on their chances of success, but realistically that's just the current situation. Quote
Popular Post justabandkid94 Posted October 16, 2018 Popular Post Posted October 16, 2018 I think the point ultimately to be taken away here is that these kids performing are just that... kids. How crushing it is to think back to high school and know how I’d feel reading someone being so abrasive about my show. Whether or not the show is to a program’s typical quality, you know the kids in it feel immense ownership towards *THEIR* show. Disappointing seasons will come, and that in it of itself is enough; we don’t need to exacerbate situations by offering unsolicited, anonymous opinions behind a screen name. The TXBands platform we have is a unique tool that can be used to unify the band world. Let’s use it how it’s meant to be, rather than bastardizing it. Old proverb: it's not what you say..it's how you say it. My oldest son was part of the band during the Raven = so yes, I have a soft spot for this band. I know that those kids read these forums and trust me, they do not need to be told their show is a bad. Who does that knowing that? The adult thing would have been If your going to say something negative, try to at least say something positive. I'll agree that it seems to be taking it's time to get to peak and there has been some missteps along the way - but they have one of the best drum lines in Texas and the tenor split during Two zoos is incredible along with the baritone solo. Who wouldn't smile during that set? A Testing Trumpet 1 Quote

As a CR Alumni, I have a lot of friends in the program, and they're kinda like our sister school, and I know the absurd level of talent in there, so I have no doubt they'll still find success this year. They're hardworking kids. Drum major and A Testing Trumpet 2 Quote

Popular Post Brassy Posted October 18, 2018 Popular Post Posted October 18, 2018 On a positive note, you may or may not know that the final band to perform, who did so well; went home to a busted up band truck in a field. Like troopers they have carried on. Support has come in from the entire TX band community. I know the Marcus High School Boosters called and asked, “What do you need?” This common bond is what makes us great. BTW Marcus calls Waxahachie Baby Marcus.
