CTJ - Wow, what a mixed bag. Brilliant solos and small ensembles with atrocious marching. It's early and they will undoubtedly tweak this to near perfection, but it was in rough form today. Will be interesting to see what happens next week when they face real competition.

What a huge show though. It will definitely grow to be very successful, though I must admit I found it almost comical in how ridiculously over the top it was. The clams with soloists in them with quotes being spoken over the top was a bit much. Im curious how much it will be cleaned by the next competition.

Yes, one of the hardest things for me adjust to. So many times it is such a distraction. But, it is here to stay and many apparently feel it is necessary.

If they saw MY scorecard, they'd stop doing it. ;-)

CTJ show was great. Some clean up needed here and there. Don't mind narration as long as it tells the story and doesn't go overboard. They might think about cutting some.

My biggest question is why the ships? I cannot figure out what purpose they serve to the show.

CTJ’s show will grow tremendously but the reality is that there are definitely some bands that could beat CTJ at this point like Vandegrift, Hebron, Leander, Ronald Reagan, Flower Mound, Keller, etc. I don’t think they are gonna run away with the Austin regional again especially with the weather coming this week.

Did you read the explanation about the show? They represent the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria coming to America.

I guess there is like a discovery/ exploration undertone going on while reflecting on how we came to be where we are and what our country stands for. Something like that.

As usual for me, I’m unsure of CTJ’s show at this point. I loved the beginning but then they lost me a bit with the narration and fast paced movement and marching. I do think right this minute, they are beatable by their closest competitors in Texas. What I know for sure is that they’ll win this McAllen regional, and they will clean this sucker up in a huge way by UIL and especially San Antonio! I love the predictable unpredictability of the Johnson Jaguar Band!
