Yeah, I remember Fort Zumwalt North at St Louis, and we heard it about 4 times while live streaming Atlanta. What I would like to see are the second and third movements of Pines of Rome. The first and fourth are always done, but the third would make a lovely ballad. Also John Mackey's Frozen Cathedral would make a nice ballad/closer, Mackey's High Wire and Whitacre's Equus would also be cool in a/more shows. Earlier this year the directors asked for music suggestions, so I made a list and asked as many people as I could for what songs they would like in our show for the next year, the list went to over a page.

Avon's winter drum line used Believer in parts of their show this year.  They used Radioactive - Imagine Dragons in their 2014 drum line show.  Both could perform well in marching band.

Yeah but the impact of it on the field in a marching show, if done correctly, would be amazing. Two bands I could see pulling it off the right way are vandy and Keller. Possibly Avon.

Several months ago, I suggested Abel Korzeniowski's music. I was watching the opening scene to Nocturnal Animals and joked that the naked "flag feature" would inspire Wes Cartwright. The music was very dramatic and a little bit "twinkly", which generally translates well to the field. I'm eager to see how Korzeniowski's Romeo and Juliet music works out for Leander this year. Lots of other ballad-like pieces to choose from, btw!

 

Speaking of movies, I liked the two Sufjan Stevens songs from Call Me By Your Name last year, but a person arranging them for marching band would probably have to write in a real climax. Visions of Gideon is probably the more field-ready of the two. I know exactly how I'd portray it visually. Gets me all excited, even though I'm no longer really part of the activity.

I may get laughed at for this, but I would love to see a band put out an "Outlander" show.   Bear McCreary put out some
beautiful music for the show that I could see translated on the field.   Some version of "Veil in Time" (many of the songs have the same type of theme in them) would work great for Color Guard with all the movement.   I'm sure they could find more upbeat Scottish music to fill out the battle scenes .

My band is playing Sound of Silence for one of our songs this upcoming year. But its the one by Simon and Garfunkel. The Disturbed version is better, wish my band could play it.

This Cruel Moon/Wine-Dark Sea Mvt II by John Mackey I think would make an absolutely stunning ballad, it's the neglected movement of Wine-Dark Sea.

So my son's band is playing music from Pans Labyrinth which I was not familiar with.   Quite a beautiful but haunting music.   Has anyone heard that in a show before?   He is currently in one 
of the Non-Varsity bands in Plano (a grade 9/10 school).
