Bandnerd03 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 So my son's band is playing music from Pans Labyrinth which I was not familiar with. Quite a beautiful but haunting music. Has anyone heard that in a show before? He is currently in one of the Non-Varsity bands in Plano (a grade 9/10 school). LD Bell used music from Pan's Labyrinth in their 2007 show Quote
PSHSMom Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 LD Bell used music from Pan's Labyrinth in their 2007 show Thanks, I found their show from GN Finals from 2007! Loved the other music in it too! Quote
Bandwoww Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 I would love to see Son Lux and Ojos de Brujo be played on the field more. Any time those groups are used it’s always so cool. Also, anything by Paul Lovatt-Cooper works greatly on the field. Quote
brassclass Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 I think Demons by Imagine Dragons would be a cool ballad if done right. BandBand347 and CTJBandPops 2 Quote
CTJBandPops Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Hello World by Lady Antebellum - the percussion component would be awesome - especially at the end of that score Quote
bandgeekofthecentury Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Krump by Scott McAllister. That could create some amazingly fast music and some face-melting hits Quote
FaultLineBlues Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Contact by Daft Punk and Outro by M83 are my two dream songs to hear in a marching production. They'd fit right in with my dream show about space exploration haha Quote
gmtb617 Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 This Cruel Moon/Wine-Dark Sea Mvt II by John Mackey I think would make an absolutely stunning ballad, it's the neglected movement of Wine-Dark Sea.Surprised no one has explicitly expressed agreement with this post until now. This would be goosebump-inducing if done right. Also, mvmt 3 from this same piece would be really interesting to put on the field as well. Quote

LeanderMomma Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 You see the 1st and 3rd movements pretty often, my favorite of the 3rd movement has to be Castle 2017 Oh yeah. That whole show was a giant cry fest for me! By the end, when the angel wrapped her wings around Sophie’s boyfriend, I was ugly crying. Quote
takigan Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Don't forget the ballad from Vandy '17 And Glenda Dawson 2016... ...I'm sure there are others. Quote
TWHSParent Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 How about doing the entirety of La Villa Strangiato? Mash 1 Quote
FEDude Posted September 8, 2018 Posted September 8, 2018 Stan by Eminem. Would have to be in a show about obsession though and mashed up with another piece. whitewing09 1 Quote
whitewing09 Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Would love to see this on the field. Quote
whitewing09 Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Several months ago, I suggested Abel Korzeniowski's music. I was watching the opening scene to Nocturnal Animals and joked that the naked "flag feature" would inspire Wes Cartwright. The music was very dramatic and a little bit "twinkly", which generally translates well to the field. I'm eager to see how Korzeniowski's Romeo and Juliet music works out for Leander this year. Lots of other ballad-like pieces to choose from, btw! Speaking of movies, I liked the two Sufjan Stevens songs from Call Me By Your Name last year, but a person arranging them for marching band would probably have to write in a real climax. Visions of Gideon is probably the more field-ready of the two. I know exactly how I'd portray it visually. Gets me all excited, even though I'm no longer really part of the activity. Lord, that sound track was fire. I'd also love to see Hallelujah Junction on the field.. somehow. I think it could fit with something like Vista Ridge's show this year (also, if anyone has a private video of that.. PM me plz). Quote
LeanderMomma Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Would love to see this on the field. That’s lovely. Quote
Dosh24 Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 I would love to see Son Lux and Ojos de Brujo be played on the field more. Any time those groups are used it’s always so cool. Also, anything by Paul Lovatt-Cooper works greatly on the field. Keller used Ojos de Brujo in their 2017 show and is using a piece by Lovatt-Cooper this year. I know Hebron has also used Lovatt-Cooper before too Quote

1998-2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Don't forget the ballad from Vandy '17 Arguably the best version to date. Sound of Silence while the Pit played Beethoven underneath. Shear genius arrangement! Beautiful beyond words. Clean drill too. Probably should have won BOA SA in my book. MikeKyu 1 Quote
1998-2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 It's probably much better suited for stand music during a football game (like Led Zeppelin's Kashmir) but I've always wanted to see what somebody really good could do with Queen's Dragon Attack. Quote

MadisonBandMan1 Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 Ride by Samuel hazo. That piece is just AMAZING. I played that last year for the spring concert and it is SO FUN. I really hope to see a group like FloMo or Hebron do this piece. sammywammy 1 Quote
