I think top 3 will be Vandegrift, Coppell, Flower Mound, not necessarily in that order I think I would replace Coppell with CTJ - the came out on top of Reagan and Vandy in region and area so I would think they land somewhere in the top 3 Quote

Can’t rule them out. I put Coppell in there because they came out on top in Area B. Maybe CTJ, FM, Coppell and Vandy in top 4 CTJBandPops 1 Quote
brassclass Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Here's my prediction. Yeah I know its a little hard to make predictions when you cant hear the tapes but hey that doesn't take away the fun in it! 1st: CTJ (came in 1st in their area beating out Reagan and Vandy) 2nd: Flower Mound (heard lots of good stuff from them and its not really surprising !) 3rd: Vandergrift (also an extremely talented group with outstanding musicians) 4th: Coppell (Consistently make and do well in this competition not to mention the army of all staters they produce each year) 5th: Duncanville (also has good history at this competition having won it 3 times) 6th-7th: Wylie and Keller Central (I feel like both of these groups will bring something special to the hearing) 8th and beyond: Honestly anything could happen. I'm expecting a lot of bands placing higher than expected as well as well as lower. Very competitive competition with no one "locked" in any clear ranking in my opinion. Expect the unexpected tomorrow Quote

Xenon Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Thanks to Beowulf, here is a picture of the programs for 6A State Honor Band. TXClarinet20 1 Quote
beowulf Posted July 26, 2018 Author Posted July 26, 2018 Something that impresses me is the variety of the concert programs. Hardly any bands are playing the same pieces. Quote
Xenon Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Results won't be available until some time tonight. If we assume an average of 45 minutes per band including breaks between bands and lunch, we are looking at around 12 hours. If they started at 7am, they won't finish until sometime around 7pm give or take an hour or so. Quote
PSHSMom Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Oh, Lincolnshire Posy, one of my favorites... lot's of good ones on that list, that one has many fond memories though. Quote
aaron067 Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Here are results, but this is second hand info. 1 and 2 are definite, and I believe 3-5 are also accurate, though I'm not 100%. 1 - Vandegrift 2 - Flower Mound 3 - Duncanville 4 - Johnson 5 - Coppell 6 - Wylie? Xenon 1 Quote
Danpod Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 North Lamar is your 2019 4A State Honor Band! North Lamar currently holds the 4A State Marching Championship and the 4A Honor Band title. This is North Lamar's second Honor Band title (2011 3A State Honor Band). LeanderMomma 1 Quote

Yes these results are accurate based off what we were told by one of our directors. FloMoParent 1 Quote
justabandkid94 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Hebron absence? Did they not submit? Or just didn’t advance? Marcus was the previous winner, correct? Quote

justabandkid94 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 darn. I’m blurring years together... thank you lol Quote
justabandkid94 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Any commentary on individual recordings? Quote
principalagent Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Marcus could not enter because their head director left. Same applies to Dawson (who withdrew for this reason), Bowie, Hendrickson, Cedar Ridge, etc. Quote
justabandkid94 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 I know this discussion always gets brought up each honor band cycle, but does anyone happen to have a stat on the number of TMEA Honor Band winners who go on to being UIL Marching champions in the same year? If memory serves right, Marcus did this 2 cycles ago. 2014 UIL 5A champions and the 2015 TMEA Honor Band Additionally, congrats to the Vandegrift program on winning this title. Have not listened to the recordings, but have heard amazing things. What a program they've got going down there in Austin! Quote
Xenon Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Almost none. If I am remembering correctly, the only bands in the largest class to have ever done it are Westfield and Marcus. Once each. Quote
Xenon Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Full results for 6A: 1. Vandergrift 2. Flower Mound 3. Duncanville 4. CT Johnson 5. Coppell 6. Wylie 7. The Woodlands College Park 8. Keller Central 9.
