BandFriendzz Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 Sorry I have a passion for music and love what bell and haltom and timber are doing on the field over groups that Advanced . Actually I’m not sorry I take it back Quote
aaron067 Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 You must also remember that BOA Dallas was weeks ago, and quite a bit can change about any band's performance in that time. I'm also not sure why you've chosen Timber Creek to pick on when 4 of the 5 advancing bands were all behind Bell at BOA Dallas as well. TXWestside 1 Quote

LostChoirGuy Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 I think everyone on this thread is going a bit too far. It is fully reasonable for you to have thought that the performance of people who didn't advance was better than some that did. Many of the judges agreed with you. No one should be getting mad at you for that. But some of the assertions about which bands are "better" at which styles of shows are just obnoxious and actually very rude. Quote
Popular Post Danpod Posted October 28, 2018 Popular Post Posted October 28, 2018 I baked cookies for everyone, but I dropped them on the floor and still ate them. GOODNIGHT, EVERYONE!!!!!!! 1998-2018, Xenon, MadisonBandMan1 and 1 other 4 Quote

And I loved every show tonight all I was saying is that some bands have more achievements in boa than uil due to the judging system. Quote

I happen to agree with your synopsis, but please realize not all band moms are clueless. I was in band in jr. high, high school, college, and taught music lessons for 10 years before I focused more on my kids than work. I still play piano, guitar, sax, and flute, although I only teach piano from time-to-time now. I had two kids go through Haltom over the years and volunteered every second I could, working my butt off giving HOURS AND HOURS to the program. I'm glad you're educated in music. It's nice to see young men or women continue on in their studies, but show a little respect. Be mad. Whatever. But respect, please. Thanks. Quote

Bandwoww Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 Is there a reason the 6A area results page says Waxahachie is the champion when Keller won? Is it just because they technically had the best score? Quote

Everyone needs to remember that the results are just 5 people’s opinions that sometimes aren’t right (talking to you judge who scored Keller in 10th) . I don’t know if this is a bad way to look at things, but if you feel robbed, you can think to yourself “man the state marching contest isn’t even that prestigious if they send X band who we are obviously better then” I know that’s a hollow way of thinking, but if you think to just yourself it kinda helps soothe the pain. WestSideTrumpet16 Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 A comment on Timber Creek: The fact that they have been State alternates every single year they go to Area is baffling to me. You would think the law of averages would catch up eventually, or the marching band gods would throw them a Texas-sized bone. Heartbreaking is not a big enough word to try and describe what the members, parents, and alumnus must be feeling right now. Results and controversy aside, this one has to hurt a little extra, especially after the success they've had this season, BOA or not. But what I am the most excited for is what happens next. Based on what I know about the program, they will not stop pushing. They haven't for three years so there's no reason to let up. Factor in that they have been considered an "up and comer" for about three years now. If I were them, I would be getting pretty tired of that. They think they deserve a spot with the best of the best. Don't be surprised if San Antonio is the place where they make their statement. I expect them to go forth with a chip on their shoulder. I'm not sure the band world is ready for the beast they've just unleashed. MadisonBandMan1 and brassdad 2 Quote

Danpod Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 Update: UIL will be looking at who is going to be officially named Area B Champion. The "Two 1st Place Music/One 1st Place Marching" Rule is specifically used to automatically crown a STATE Champion. Please note that this will NOT have any bearing on the random State draw order that will be done tomorrow. More to come... Xenon 1 Quote

It’s so much hard work and I hope Area B places well at State! For us it’s on to concert season and supporting our 7-0 undefeated football team! Quote
