Samuel Culper Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I bring this up because the new 13-6A starts play this week and it is loaded. We get to see great bands every week. Cedar Ridge Hendrickson Leander McNeil Round Rock Stony Point Vandegrift Vista Ridge Westwood Any other really good districts out there for great halftimes? Quote

Yes, this is a great district for halftime. Just an fyi on RR. Their varsity does not play at every game, the JV does. Quote

LeanderMomma Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 The district that includes Flower Mound, Hebron and Marcus has to be a great one as well! And then there's Ronald Reagan, CTJ and Madison amongst other great San Antonio bands. I would love to be a part of either of those districts, or at least close enough to go and watch some local games in order to catch some amazing half time performances! Last year I went to the LD Bell/Marcus game and that was a LOT of fun! This year LD Bell has moved into a different district and no longer plays Marcus. FloMoParent 1 Quote
principalagent Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I thought that Round Rock dissolved their JV band? Quote
scoobydoo Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 RR still has their JV band. Varsity plays at some of the games. Varsity will next play at the FB game against WW. The night before BOA Austin. It's on their band calender. I think someone had made the assumption that the JV was dissolved. Quote
LostChoirGuy Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Coppell is in the same district as FM, Marcus, and Hebron. LD Bell is no longer in that district, but is in the district with Haltom. Churchill is in the same one with CTJ, Madison, and Reagan. FloMoParent 1 Quote
PSHSMom Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I have no idea what district Plano East plays in anymore... I know they played LD Bell, Lake Highlands already, and play Prosper, Sachse, Allen and McKinney, McKinney Boyd, Jesuit, along the other two Plano schools this season. At least they get to play in the Allen stadium and the New McKinney isd stadium this year, very nice venues. Quote

Plano had some weird game last Friday against El Paso, the band was rained out, but the football team still played. I was hoping the El Paso band didn't make that 650 mile trip! They were supposed to have a big "combined" band thing at half time with Plano Senior and the two feeder schools (9/10 grade high schools) which my son is in, but they never made it off the bus Quote
LostChoirGuy Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Wow, that is a long way to come for a football game! FaultLineBlues 1 Quote

The one with Coppell and the LISD will be pretty fun to watch especially at half-time. Quote
Bandwoww Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 I know that some of the Keller ISD schools used to play (or maybe still do?) some LISD schools and also LD Bell but for the most part they are alone in terms of marching band. And I think they have to play Midland sometimes which is strange. Quote
Samuel Culper Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 Something made me think of this thread that I started, so I thought I would go back and update district 13-6A's season from a UIL marching perspective: Cedar Ridge - 11th in State FinalsHendrickson - 25th in State PrelimsLeander - 5th in State FinalsMcNeil - 13th in Area D PrelimsRound Rock - 13th in State PrelimsStony Point - 23rd in Area D PrelimsVandegrift - State Bronze MedalistVista Ridge - State ChampionWestwood - 8th in Area D Finals Nice little season there for these bands.
