vacon3` Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 Who's participating in this contest? Quote
TWHSParent Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 There are many UIL region contests this day, so the participant list is smaller than usual (around 14 bands expected to attend this year). I don't know the full list yet. Avisshadow 1 Quote
abtwitch Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 I think Brazoswood and College Park are going, but that's I'll I know of Texas is awesome 1 Quote

There may now be a 15th band to attend, but certainly lower than usual due to the UIL region overlap. Quote

With it being less than a week away and having no lineup and there apparently being so few bands this year, I wonder if they’ll cancel it. Does that ever happen? Quote

This is a massive fundraiser for The Woodlands band. The only way this gets cancelled is if the ground swallowed the stadium. TWHSParent, Anthony V and MadisonBandMan1 3 Quote

Guest Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 There were only 13 bands in 2014 and it still happened. Quote
TWHSParent Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 Yes, it is happening. There is a schedule that has been shared with the competing bands. 14 currently attending with 10 finalists. I am flying back from my business trip to Europe on Friday so I can do the volunteer thing at the contest! Quote
MarkD33 Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Here's the schedule: 11:15 AM Oak Ridge High School 11:30 AM Klein Cain High School 11:45 AM Caney Creek High School 12:00 PM Grand Oaks High School (new local high school, first competition ever!) 1:45 PM William B. Travis High School 2:00 PM Klein High School 2:15 PM Terry High School 2:30 PM Splendora High School 3:15 PM Klein Collins High School 3:30 PM College Park High School 3:45 PM Willis High School 4:00 PM Cy-Fair High School 4:15 PM Brazoswood High School Due to football game conflicts at Woodforest Stadium, LSP is a week later than it's traditional weekend and that caused conflicts with a few of the local UIL Region competitions. Even thought there are 6-8 fewer attendees, there will still be 10 finalists. That's a great opportunity for the kids in some of the smaller bands that rarely make finals in competitions. There's nothing better than performing under the lights! TWHSParent 1 Quote
Avisshadow Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Oh cool!! I didn’t know Grand Oaks would be doing anything outside UIL regional! Now that I’m in their feeder zone I’d love for them to do well. And there’s several bands here I’ve never seen perform before! I’ll definitely try to make this one. I think that 1st place will be a battle between Cy-Fair and Oak Ridge, with Brazoswood and College Park being the next two. While I’ve seen all the Klein Schools at some point in my life, I’m not sure how the other smaller schools will fair against them so I can’t predict anything beyond 1st-4th. And I can’t wait to see TWHS exhibition performance, I’m curious on how much they’ll have improved since BOA. Avisshadow 1 Quote
LostChoirGuy Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Top 4 should be a great show! The klein schools are really hard to predict. They certainly arent bad, and at times have really nice shows, but seem to just dwell in that uncertainty level where making distinctions between them is very difficult. It might also be because I didn't see them perform at local contests being from the DFW area. Quote
TWHSParent Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Weather is currently looking tolerable. 40% chance of showers (no thunderstorms) and a high of around 70. Only 20% chance at night, with a low of 57. Quote
Bandisboss102 Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Top 5 predictions. For 1-2 and 3-4 I think it could go either way 1-2: Oak Ridge/ Cy-Fair 3-4:Brazoswood/ College Park 5: William B. Travis Quote
MarkD33 Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 Looks like there's a new schedule for LSP: 10:45 AM Oak Ridge High School 11:00 AM Klein Cain High School 11:15 AM Caney Creek High School 1:30 PM Grand Oaks High School (new local high school, first competition ever!) 1:45 PM William B. Travis High School 2:00 PM Klein High School 2:15 PM Terry High School 2:30 PM Splendora High School 3:15 PM Klein Collins High School 3:30 PM College Park High School 3:45 PM Willis High School 4:00 PM Cy-Fair High School 4:15 PM Brazoswood High School Quote
