Avisshadow Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Leander's props from last year are being used by Klein this year. Terry was using the flower props from Winston Churchill 2016. I had to look that one up. I recognized them but couldn't immediately remember where/when I saw them. Apparently our ramp from 2015 was used by The Guardians corp this year. It is always interesting to see where props end up. I like the idea of bands using unused props from past bands. I used to wonder what happened to all the detailed and beautiful props used in each show and would think how much of a waste of all that money and equipment required to make them if they just got thrown out. And not to sound lame and mushy, but seeing bands use each other’s props shows how connected the bands are and that they aren’t just competing AGAINST each other, but WITH each other. Quote

And Lakota East performed our entire 2014 Color Study show at Indianapolis this weekend. The props and flags were a tiny bit different but very very similar. Even the color guard costumes were similar. It is definitely interesting and always flattering! Quote

LeanderMomma Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 They took out the Somewhere Over the Rainbow section Yes I noticed that too! I was waiting for it, and then it didn’t happen. So disappointing. Darn Lakotians. Quote

The info in the scores is not quite correct... Grand Oaks is only 1A. They only have Freshman and Sophomores and the classification for 1A is less than 600 10th - 12th. Grand Oaks won all captions and 1st place in Class 1A for Prelims. (And they placed 6th in percussion in finals! Pretty amazing for a drumline and front ensemble of mostly Freshman!) Dave Clemmer is missing from the judges list for music. He was on the field for both Prelims, Finals and in the judges meetings with the directors. Quote

On the Region UIL schedule, it said they are 5A Non-Varsity, so even by UIL standards they are 5A. Quote

We ran a newer system in parallel to validate, but did not utilize for issuing results. Yes, I was working tabulations at the contest so I have gory knowledge.... Tuba1153 1 Quote

On the Region UIL schedule, it said they are 5A Non-Varsity, so even by UIL standards they are 5A. There are 1300 at Grand Oaks and less than 600 are 10th graders. 10th Graders were given the option to stay at Oak Ridge and apparently the District buckled on not giving those kids transportation to Oak Ridge. Now we are bus strapped. So, per BOA rules, schools with less than 600 10th thru 12th graders are classified as 1A. But, because the school has 1300+, it is considered a 5A school. Adding another 900+ 9th graders next year will put Grand Oaks at a 6A size a year before reclassification. 2019-20 GOHS will still be competing as a 5A school. Quote
