6A Region Result Thread 2018

After hours of torturing myself typing this, here's my region result thread for 2018! I decided to only do the varsity conferences advancing to Area/State this year for simplicity sakes, and so far I have only done 6A. 4A is next then finally 2A.

 

Key Notes: in regions with 2 or less bands, both will ALWAYS advance to area. 2 bands minimum must also go to area from a region. I will edit this with results and area advancements as the year goes on

It’s the unfortunate reality of how these things tend to shake out. The 2004 realignment left two Areas straight up uncompetitive. Area B for at least three cycles (I think four) just sent Marcus, Hebron, Bell, Haltom and Richland. Area C was even worse. Literally up until this alignment it was always Duncanville, Coppell, Berkner, and eventually Rowlett when a fourth spot opened up (them always being alternate otherwise).

Wagner is now a 5A school, so they can't advance to area/state this season.

Ah I see. I wish the areas were more even in the number of bands they had. It's better than it used to be (8 advancers in Area G, but only 4 in Area C), but still could be better.

I think Pearland has a solid shot at making state considering their growth the past two years

Pearland almost always makes State, even if they don't do the best at BOA, I'm from the region. 2016 was an outlier on their State appearances. They just never did well at BOA until last year

Yes, they should have. They just shouldnt have won prelims. There was nobody outside of finals who outperformed Spring.

I wonder if Region 32 will even get to HAVE a decent day for marching at any point in the next 2 weeks!  This flooding and rain is just out of control, and I'm getting the feeling that this is not going to let up anytime soon.

The evening forecast this Saturday looks better than the daytime.  Plus, the rain in the forecast doesn't look heavy.  I'm hoping that we have delays at worst.  Fingers crossed!
