somewhat off topic from the current discussion, but it still makes absolutely NO sense to me that there's no semi-finals at San Antonio despite there being MORE BANDS here than at Grand Nats. BOA has got to think about revising the structure of this contest!

To be fair, it takes time to plan schedules with school districts and stuff like that. It's quite the logistical task for BOA. The growth in band participation happened quite rapidly. I don't doubt something will be done about it in the future, but again it takes time.

Hopefully they introduce semis at San Antonio next year. I'm getting excited just thinking about predicting a top 30 instead of top 14. Wow I'm pathetic.

I definitely foresee a future where we have the prelims/semis/finals format in San Antonio but they will have to do some extensive preparations and planning to make it happen. But Katy bar the door when they do! Grand Nationals South will be quite the experience.

I think it might be fun to coordinate a 'Texas' shout-out whenever the BOA announcer makes the claim of Indy being the marching band capital in the nation....

Here are my predictions for SA Finals:

1.  Average score of all finalists to break a BOA SA finals record for cumulative finalists average

2. Top half scores to rival GN on any given year

3. Bottom half scores to be comparable to any other BOA Regional or Super Regional top half in the country

4. The "next 10" bands not in finals (15-24) scores will be good enough to have made finals at any other BOA Regional or Super Regional

I hear ya on those scores. I think this will be the SA Super that blew up BOA. And the Alamodome.

Still don't know if I'm going or not. Would love to go to support as an alumni (Oak Ridge) and also see bands that have improved. Still in shock Seven Lakes didn't make finals at BOA Houston because they were always right with Oak Ridge, JET and Brazoswood, but it shows that bands are constantly improving and if you don't keep up with the momentum, you'll be left in the dust. I've also been wanting to see CTJ all season and see their Lion King show. Will LOVE to see #TeamTexas and the 6. Gotta say, I am swooned by TWHS show this year. I'll be honest, I didn't like it when I saw it at the game between Oak Ridge, but then I was on board second I saw it at BOA Houston then the exhibition for Lone Star preview. Definitely rooting for the Highlanders. I also just want to see the "bloodbath" bands, aka 14th-30th. Those rankings right outside of finals are always on top of each other. Would also love to see the out-of-state bands or the honorary Texas bands considering I don't really know about bands that aren't in Texas or GN consistent finalists. If not, will definitely try to catch FloMarching. Good luck.

Wow - just watched the Woodlands video and Holy Cow they've improved since BOA Houston!  It seems like it changed a LOT - am I imagining that?  As a TWHS parent, I missed that Woodlands "edge" when I first watched it from BOA, but this has come along by leaps and bounds!

I saw it this evening as well and you’re right. Huge difference from BOA Houston. Very entertaining show. Still so in love with the colorguard dresses and the entire band dressed in Navy uniforms. This show will do well in Indy. In fact I felt like I was watching an Indiana band when watching it. Perhaps TWHS has figured out the secret.

TWHS was amazing live on Saturday, probably the best I’ve ever seen live (bear in mind, I haven’t seen many live)
