The buzz leans toward Vandegrift going, but nothing is certain until April (or really, Thursday or Friday prelims).

I've wanted them to go for years. I hope they do. Barring any significant changes, they'll make finals, even if a lot of top Texas groups go. The national finals experience is unlike anything in the marching arts. The kids will love it.

I highly doubt Vista Ridge is going. The directors have not mentioned anything about grand nats, which is something that would at least be brought up by now. The band also goes on out-of-state-trips every other year to save money, and is going to New York this spring for their “pricey trip”. It’s very unlikely that they will go on an expensive trip 2 years in a row.

I'd say of the bands confirmed going Hebron and Leander have the largest chances of winning the eagle. Both have shown consistent and excellent performances and have the discipline and show design to challenge Carmel

I would say CTJ has a very strong chance of winning, but it 100% depends on the energy they bring. Of the bands heading to Indy, only they and perhaps Leander can keep things competitive in the visual caption. A good CTJ show is also a GE monster, so we'll see.

I would agree, and I believe the show they are planning for Indy will be a GE Monster, something along the lines of the 2017 show. High energy and as always, fast paced

CTJ's 2018 show felt too reliant on props I hope they go back to what made their 2017 show so great they could be a dangerous force in the GE field if they play their cards right.

I agree CTJ's 2018 show was prop heavy- I think it distracted from their show a lot.  I liked their 2017 better because while still crazy and all over the place- it was the students I focused on, not all the props.

as an aside- our band got to practice at CTJ when we were in San Antonio for BOA and they were amazed at the practice area the CTJ band get's to use...

Yeah if I remember correctly all of the neisd schools have their own band lot at the school that is seldom used by anyone else.

Ah... such a huge bonus!  Our kids have a student parking lot that's marked off with yard lines and hash marks... that they have to hunt down students that are parked in it when they don't get their cars out in time after school.  And during school hours there's no where they can do any full field type practice.  They have some hash marks in the band hall they can practice small group choreography, but that's it.

I think that 2019 will be "the chameleon in the forest through the trees"  - I think it will be an awesome year and a great showing in Texas and in Indy - lets bring the Eagle back to Texas

I hope we all take our best shows to Indy this year! Maybe CTJ, Hebron, TWHS, Leander and Round Rock will take the top 5 spots! Ha, yeah I know it won’t happen, but it’s fun to think about.

Now I can’t remember who the sixth band going is. I know I forgot someone!

Edit: Oh yes, Vandegrift may or may not be going. And I wouldn’t be surprised to find out some smaller Texas band ends up going as well. Can’t wait for the schedule to be revealed!

Correct CTJ, Hebron, TWHS, Leander and Round Rock are the only confirmed that I have heard - Vandy is just a rumor at this point

I will go out on a limb and project CTJ as a top 5 finish in Indy in 2019 but think that a medal is a very real possibility -

I can’t wait to see the product Johnson puts out. They always put out such energetic shows and I can never understand how they can get all of those students to jazz run that much in a show. They almost jazz run more than a lot of drum corps.

it is a love of the show - they own it and there is a desire to bring the crowd into the show - and 2019 will be no different
