principalagent Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Well, there's definitely a cleaner run on the horizon for Hebron. That's probably not going to reach the heights they want this weekend, though. Hard Core Band Fan 1 Quote
A Testing Trumpet Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Hebron really brought it. That music is so tough and they nailed it. Awesome Job! Quote
Popular Post SATXBandDad Posted November 15, 2019 Popular Post Posted November 15, 2019 I think Vandergrift is gonna take it, considering Reagan isn't going to be there and they beat every other texas band at san antonio Starting this already!? Do me a favor....go listen to a song called “What might have been” by Little Texas and see if that helps. Reagan was awesome but they are not in Indy. Hard Core Band Fan Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 I both love and hate electronics. They have added so much to the marching arts, but when they don't work, they are truly a pain in the butt. It's so hard to start your show when there is obvious issues and it delays the start. Leander did a good job of putting it behind them. Speaks volumes about their focus. Quote
Popular Post principalagent Posted November 15, 2019 Popular Post Posted November 15, 2019 Gonna call it now that Leander ISD will become the first ever school district to take home two medals in the same year from GN. TheSoundOfSilence, jmj, gregorydf01 and 2 others 5 Quote
A Testing Trumpet Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Leander seems to have had some technical difficulties, but I like all the new narration. Show seems a lot more mature with it. I thought they had a good run, but I'd like to see them in Semi's again tomorrow without the tech issues. Quote

Popular Post LostChoirGuy Posted November 15, 2019 Popular Post Posted November 15, 2019 Ugh I am so incredibly proud of all of these Texas groups! All of them have the potential to medal. Cant wait to see Round Rock later. A Testing Trumpet, TxDragonmom, gmtb617 and 2 others 5 Quote
vacon3` Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Wow Woodlands!!! Way to represent Houston area and Texas. I had my doubts about this show. What a difference a few weeks make! Hard Core Band Fan and Tailgate88 2 Quote
gmtb617 Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 The Woodlands!! AHHH!! It was a crime overlooking this show when I was thinking about my favorite shows earlier in the season. When you sell a show like THAT, there’s no way it can’t be one of my favorites. So...much...FUN! FloMoParent 1 Quote
A Testing Trumpet Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 The Woodlands had a good run, but I think they can bring some more energy to Semi's. They sounded really good this run though, congrats! Txbandfan89 1 Quote
natertater21000 Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Pretty stock technical issues for Leander, we can't seem to escape them. I'm confident they'll be on fire tomorrow though. After watching all of the big dogs I still think leander has the best shot at GE and the best overall design. I also think vandy just won pre lims. All I can say is wow. Avon and Carmel sound great, but I feel like there should be a considerable margin in terms of ensemble music scores (cant speak for individual). The controlled volume vandy, ctj, leander, Hebron, and the woodlands put out is unmatched imo. Quote

I think Hebron could easily win music over Vandy if the stars align tomorrow night (had to make the pun) Quote
CTJBandPops Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 I think you misread the comment. They were saying Vandy beat all of the others in SA. and I think that the point that has been made before was that this competition is no longer SA - in 2016 the lowest BOA SA finalist that came to GN finished as the top Texas Band at GN - Cedar Park - the shows have had 2 weeks, all have polished and some have made some major changes to their shows. Reagan's not here, let's just support the 6 Texas bands that are - Round Rock tonight and then we get to see our Texas Bands move to Semi's Hard Core Band Fan 1 Quote
Flippy1234 Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Can someone more knowledgeable let me Know how much the electronics issues hurt Leander? Class awards are tonight correct? Did that performance just ruin those chances? Quote
principalagent Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Can someone more knowledgeable let me Know how much the electronics issues hurt Leander? Class awards are tonight correct? Did that performance just ruin those chances? No penalty today; just a stern warning for next time. Class awards are tomorrow. And Leander has absolutely no threat whatsoever of losing anything in their class. propsquaddad and A Testing Trumpet 2 Quote
A Testing Trumpet Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Can someone more knowledgeable let me Know how much the electronics issues hurt Leander? Class awards are tonight correct? Did that performance just ruin those chances? It certainly didn't help them, but the issues themselves likely just had a negligible effect on the score, if any. The more likely case is that since they started late they may have took longer to get off the field then they should have, which could result in a penalty; but for Grand National Prelims Leander isn't in any danger whatsoever of missing out on Semi's if you ask me. Rubisco Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Who’s judging what in semis and finals? I’ve noticed that MFA hasn’t been very good about posting the judge bios this year. Sometimes it’s useful in making predictions. Haven’t watched anything yet. Prelims is pretty much just a warm-up round for the TX groups, anyway. Quote
crossblue82 Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 I have a question about the judges/adjudicators as well. Is it the same panel for all 3 stages and do they just switch positions, or are they entirely new panels each time compromised of new judges...or is it somewhere in the middle where maybe a judge does one but maybe another does a couple stages, etc. Even though I was formerly in band I can't remember this aspect. Thanks, I was just curious. Quote
Rubisco Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Two different panels for the two prelims days. A completely different panel for semis. And then a finals panel composed of judges from the two prelims days, not necessarily judging the same thing as prelims. GJa 1 Quote

Rubisco Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Surprised my original question hasn’t been answered. Don’t they list who’s judging what in the event brochures? Or maybe they don’t do that for Nationals? Or are they like $100 now to purchase? Wouldn’t surprise me! LeanderMomma 1 Quote
