Mason was A little too much park and bark for me, but I really enjoy the way they utilize their large band and enormous guard visually. I think they do it a lot better than other bands of their size. I think WM might kick a Texas band out of the top half.

Just such a cool show from Leander. They’ve got a style that is so undeniably them, and it’s gonna blow the crowd away tonight. I think the performance captions will keep them off the medal stand, but could easily see them top 3 in GE.

Hebron is better than a lot have been giving them credit for here! Should easily be top half and in medal (or eagle) contention with that insane music performance. The ballad clicked much better in semis than prelims. What a run compared to prelims...maybe the best band we’ve seen so far imo...

I'm not sure what it was, but Hebron's run really resonated with me today. Love that show. Musically melting, as always.

Truly amazing stuff from Hebron. The level of the stuff their doing and the quality of their performance. Mind blowing.

I wouldn't be so sure, reagan and leander were 1 and 2 at pre lims of SA. Both placed 7th in music and leander was third in visual. The first and second in GE kept them at those ranks overall. When margins are small GE counts the most because the scores aren't averaged. A tenth in GE is a tenth to the overall score.

 

All this to say the performance margins are plenty small enough for GE make the difference.

No one even comes close to attempting what Hebron is putting out there musically. I disagree with their musical ranking at SA, despite the dirt, but hopefully they get reward more for it this weekend. And then as much as we rave about Hebron’s music, they may be Texas best visual band this weekend as well, besides maybe Vandy. The contrast with Leander is really interesting and I loved both!

Lots of things can change from San Antonio to Nationals.

I’m not counting Leander out by any means. But specifically seeing them squeezed between William mason and Hebron, I don’t know if Leander’s GE score can carry them to the podium.

I doubt Mason will beat leander in music,and I highly doubt either of them will beat them in visual. That's just my opinion though.

CTJ is just so good in every aspect! That solo battle is everything they needed to tie the middle of the show together.

How do you even compare bands like Leander, Hebron, and CTJ? They're all so amazing and entertaining in their own way.

I’ll preface this by saying this is still my favorite CTJ show to date. But it’s almost too much of a good thing. There’s just so much happening at the end of this show and it’s a bit overwhelming. I would really like to see what CTJ would do if they took a more linear show learning approach like most bands, because I feel like they learn the entire show fast and then find the need to pump way too much stuff into it over the next couple months.

 

Criticism aside, darn those kids can play, and the soloists are just unreal. Still an amazingly fun show that I think will do really well tonight!!!
