DSbandnerd Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 Wondering everyone's thoughts on area D next year. Quote
Dog885 Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 I'm wondering on how schools like Weiss and Pflugerville will do. They both can definitely put up a fight against Dripping Springs and Cedar Park. Quote
principalagent Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 Cedar Park is in a different area. Quote

principalagent Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 They revamped the alignments this year in 5A, and now Area H 5A mimics 6A: https://align.tmea.org/align_1820/index.php Quote
Guest Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 As compared to 2015, and to a lesser extent 2017, this area is much less stacked, which should allow some newer, as well as older programs that havent seen as much success lately to advance. Connally, Weiss, Dripping Springs, McCallum, SFA, and Hutto are the most likely to advance from my unbiased view. Quote
principalagent Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Austin High (definitely not SFA ) is back in 6A. Quote
Guest Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 If enough bands get 1s, we could likely see some bands that have never even made area finals advance to state! Quote
abtwitch Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Competitors for state spots are looking to be Dripping Springs, Weiss, Pflugerville, Georgetown, McCallum, Hutto, and Connally, only 3 or 4 will get to go however depending on how region plays out. Quote
Guest Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 1: Weiss 2: Dripping Springs 3: Pflugerville 4: McCaullum 5: Georgetown 6: Connally 7: Hutto Quote

zvchy Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 In my opinion, Hutto got screwed over at Area in 2017. We deserved to be in finals, and when we performed, and other factors played into us not advancing. I was a drum major for Hutto in 2017, and schools that we had beaten by 3+ points all season advanced over us. Hutto got stronger in 2018, and I know they'll be back for vengeance in 2019. Quote

I remember to this day having you guys solidly within area finals after I finished watching the entirety of prelims, I too thought you guys should have made it. Quote
Guest Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 They will be at 5a state this season and could very well make finals. Quote

It was heartbreaking. That was by far our best season at the time and we knew we deserved to be there. Being a drum major at retreat expecting to hear your school's name called for the first time ever for finals and not having it happened was crushing, but I am so happy to see them continue to grow every year. Ill always remember the memories and Im proud to know I was apart of when we got better. They will soon be at state. Quote
TheHornplayer Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 For Weiss, by what I'm being told they've lost both head and assistant directors, Now They have the Brass Caption For The Cadets as their head director and another director from Cadets working as their assistant director. I have a friend that goes to Weiss and they say they love the directors Already and the transition was very smooth. So I don't think they'll have to many problems, which I have to watch out for since we're going up against them for area And other comps. Quote

TheHornplayer Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Connally just barely missed state in 2017 and it'll be interesting to see how they do this year. Maybe they'll make it. Quote
TheHornplayer Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 I've been told that uil is only taking 3 bands from area D to state this year, what's that about? Quote

I think they could be a serious contender. Quote
