PantherBone Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Why not give appreciation to smaller bands? They work as hard as the big 6As! And with the recent threads about the best bands in cities, let's talk about the best Non-6A Bands in D/FW! My lists (divided by conference but otherwise in no particular order): Conference 5A: Frisco Wakeland Frisco Lone Star Frisco Lebanon Trail Princeton Royse City Forney Azle The Colony Conference 4A: Argyle Springtown Melissa Anna Farmersville Conference 3A: Whitesboro Howe Van Alstyne What other bands should I add to these lists? LostChoirGuy Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Highland Park Poteet Centennial (You can interpret that as Frisco or Burleson. Both are good!) Quote
LostChoirGuy Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 I would count Aledo and would definitely include it in the list! Quote
NETexasBandFan Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Canton? Canton is a bit debatable on being in the DFW, but probably more than close enough Quote
Guest Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 How was Highland Park this year? In 2017 they were very impressive for their size, but I felt they focused a bit too much on being as loud as possible for 60 winds rather than making a great sound, but very strong nevertheless. Quote
PantherBone Posted December 5, 2018 Author Posted December 5, 2018 Canton is a bit debatable on being in the DFW, but probably more than close enough I didn't include Canton on my original list as I consider Canton to be in East Texas. Quote
SpartanBandAlum Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 I didn't include Canton on my original list as I consider Canton to be in East Texas. I would probably have included them, seeing as they’re in the same area as Melissa, Argyle, Farmersville, and Anna, but I see your point. Quote

Canton is actually in a completely different area from those cities lol (Not a sarcastic lol) FloMoParent 1 Quote
SpartanBandAlum Posted December 7, 2018 Posted December 7, 2018 Upon reinspection, Canton is much further from Dallas than I remembered. My mistake Quote
tubaboom44 Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I would throw McKinney North in the conversation for 5A, they seem to execute really well visually Quote
abtwitch Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Wylie East, Colleyville Heritage, Granbury, and Lovejoy all had fantastic seasons this fall and there's also Forney who's always fantastic. krisandray1 and tubaboom44 2 Quote

Granbury has been on a very quick rise lately, which basically happened under the radar. As I recall, in 2015, they didn't make finals at HEB?, but in 2018 they were 5th at a BOA regional. Same goes for Wylie East. For Colleyville Heritage, I remember they actually had a few BOASA finals appearances in the late 2000s? They may not compete in BOA anymore, but when I saw them in 2016 I remember them being very strong. I believe they are 5a? Quote

aspenmoonlight Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Granbury? (Or too far?) They’ve made some big strides the past few years. Quote
