Stefen Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 Hey everyone, lately there has been alot of talk with San Antonio Bands on the rise. What bands do you think are top in SA (besides CTJ). Quote
Guest Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 Sandra Day O'Connor, James Madison, Douglas MacArthur, Judson, Earl Warren, William H. Taft, and John Paul Stevens are all very strong programs. I would say that outside of the NEISD schools, Earl Warren and Judson are the top bands in San Antonio. Quote
MadisonBandMan1 Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 I would say: Johnson Reagan Churchil Madison Warren O’Connor Judson Brandeis MacArthur Taft Stevens Quote
Guest Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 Oh man sorry completely forgot about Brandies... Quote
Stefen Posted February 2, 2019 Author Posted February 2, 2019 I would say: Johnson Reagan Churchil Madison Warren O’Connor Judson Brandeis MacArthur Taft Stevens Is your list in order from greatest to worst? Quote
MadisonBandMan1 Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 That’s from this past season, and anyone out of the top five can switch around imo Quote
Stefen Posted February 3, 2019 Author Posted February 3, 2019 That’s from this past season, and anyone out of the top five can switch around imo That's odd rankings then considering that Reagan beat Johnson at BOA and Brandeis beat Warren, Oconnor, Judson and ranked the closest San Antonio school in Area H to the Austin schools. Quote
MadisonBandMan1 Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 There is a bit of personal preference in that as well, and warren placed well at boa San Antonio, two spots below madison. I haven’t seen much of the other shows but I know Brandeis is on the rise and O’Connor has a history of not only making area finals but also advancing to state. Regardless of the change in directors, given the culture surrounding that program I expect them to continue their success. Judson’s ranking is based on how closely they compete with Madison at local competitions generally. Quote
MadisonBandMan1 Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 I can’t compare across contests so I tr my best, but my opinion is just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt please. Quote
CTJBandPops Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 That's odd rankings then considering that Reagan beat Johnson at BOA and Brandeis beat Warren, Oconnor, Judson and ranked the closest San Antonio school in Area H to the Austin schools. that was last year - in the past 5 years CTJ has more BOA championships than any other program in the state - let alone in San Antonio Quote
Stefen Posted February 3, 2019 Author Posted February 3, 2019 I respect your preference Madison Band Man1 but, it is uneducated. The reason why Brandeis did worse at BOA is because our show was made for UIL. It worked we got 6th in the hardest area of Texas. If we would of had a BOA type show we would have done worse at UIL. I understand that your show was for uil, and I respect your opinion, but I am not just taking boa into account, and I am sorry if I offended you. Like I said, there was also personal preference involved. Once again, I am sorry for offending you. Stefen 1 Quote

LostChoirGuy Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Why bother asking if you don't like other people's opinions? I don't think there is a correct one myself. Stefen 1 Quote

LostChoirGuy Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Nah, no worries. I dont mean to be critical. I just think that it is always interesting to hear out various opinions. Quote
SA2020 Posted February 9, 2019 Posted February 9, 2019 Is it me or Brennan HS a little underrated? SA2020 1 Quote
Stefen Posted February 9, 2019 Author Posted February 9, 2019 Is it me or Brennan HS a little underrated? So the thing with Brennan is that they are very inconsistent. This messes with there rankings alot. They also dont go to higher level SA competitions. Quote
Stefen Posted February 9, 2019 Author Posted February 9, 2019 I think they're trying BOA this year. From the looks of it, they prefer to stay in their circuit. Do you go there?? Quote
