Band_dad_of_2 Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 I have never been able to find this but is there a breakdown of the schools by division (AAAA, AAA, AA)? Quote
LeanderMomma Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 I have never been able to find this but is there a breakdown of the schools by division (AAAA, AAA, AA)? Excellent question but that would be quite a comprehensive list. Would they just base it on current enrollees to BOA events, past performers, or every school in the nation with a HS marching band? vbassoon Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 How do people feel about John Horn? Haven't heard much about them this year. Not at the same level as last year. Quote

Jeremiah I think has it memorized but I think they look at all the BOA participants over the last enrollment period and re-balance accordingly. LeanderMomma 1 Quote
Band_dad_of_2 Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Jeremiah I think has it memorized but I think they look at all the BOA participants over the last enrollment period and re-balance accordingly. And it's based on 10-12 enrollment, not 9-12. I've just never understood why they don't say "Hebron (AAAA)" in the schedule or something like that. LeanderMomma 1 Quote
JeremiahW Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Jeremiah I think has it memorized but I think they look at all the BOA participants over the last enrollment period and re-balance accordingly. haha, I do have spreadsheets and spreadsheets of information like this, but they're a few years out of date, and we frequently never know what class a band is in during any given year until they're announced winning a prelims award or until we see the recaps. Like this year we were shocked to hear Blue Springs in AAA at Cedar Falls. Quote
A Testing Trumpet Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 I always thought it was a little strange how BOA didn't release which bands were in each class before the competition publicly, but maybe there is a reason for that. Quote
mmbandfan Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 Rumor has it that Berkner dropped, but I can neither confirm nor deny Berkner is officially out - it's not even on their webpage calendar anymore. No idea why. Quote
Jeffrey L. Gorman Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 Just a thought about Berkner. Their UIL Region Marching Contest is on the 23rd of Oct after BOA. The Band may be having difficulties getting their time on the field down pat(remember Allen last fall). Maybe they need more time to finalize their show to UIL Standards. Who knows for sure. Quote
BlueCircle Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 Updated predictions after seeing this past weekend’s results. 1. Keller - At this point, it would be surprising to see them not decisively take home their first BOA Regional title. Their season has been great so far and they always seem to step it up year after year. 2-6 (any order) James Martin - They somewhat surprisingly finished 2nd in Midland prelims over Regional Finalist Timber Creek. They are having a good season after some years of fluctuation. James Bowie - Their early season results haven’t been nearly as strong as last season but making finals at BOA Austin surely guarantees them a spot in the top half here. Also, I love their show. Hendrickson - Not making Austin finals and then finishing 9th at TMC is concerning considering they are a 2018 SA finalist. I really really love their show this year. Waxahachie - Again, I really really love this show! They had a good showing in DFW finals after finishing 11th in prelims. They should do really well here and hopefully have cleaned up a lot. Seven Lakes - After barely not making Houston finals, they will certainly be making a very strong case for top half. Waxahachie, Seven Lakes, and Hendrickson all finished outside the top 10 in prelims of their respective regional prelims this year so it will be VERY interesting to see how this all shakes out! Finals Bubble: Dripping Springs Forney Aledo Burleson Centennial Richland Mansfield Duncanville Quote

We had our best run yet there so don't count us out yet and look out for us in that bubble or sliding into finals. Quote

mmbandfan Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 I can't tell you how much this statement bothers me and I hope it's not the case. I believe it is the case, because they are also fundraising to take a group to Midwest in December. That school and its band program has done so much with relatively modest resources for a long time. Band_dad_of_2 Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 Let's try that again. Top 5 Keller Bowie (Austin) Waxahachie Hendrickson Seven Lakes Next 5 Centennial Martin Richland Lake Ridge Duncanville Bubble/Could replace some in the bottom 5 Mansfield Dripping Springs Holding steady with this prediction after looking at this weekend's results. Although, I could see a "bottom 5" band push Hendrickson of the "top 5".+ Curious what everyone else thinks. Quote

bobbyg703 Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 I wanna here some more predictions, and I'll start with mine with some Hays bias and a shot in the dark for finals. I tried looking up Band_Dad_of_2's selections and I couldn't find shows for Centennial, Martin, Richland, Lake Ridge, and Mansfield. 1. Bowie 2. Keller 3. Duncanville 4. Sachse 5. Hendrickson 6. Waxahachie 7. Hays 8. Dripping Springs 9. Richland 10. Martin Quote
