MadisonBandMan1 Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 This is definitely going to be a fun marching season to be a part of! I can't wait to start seeing some of the heavy hitters start announcing their shows to the public, as Leander and Vandegrift have. Speaking of, have y'all set a date yet for the show-off performances this spring yet, for those who are affiliated with either schools? Quote
gregorydf01 Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 Not sure when Leander and Vandegrift will be but Vista Ridge will have the Parent Preview Concert Friday 5/3. If you haven't heard yet; the VRHS show reveal will be tomorrow (4/23) at 4pm. I think it may be live streamed over the Vista Ridge Band Boosters Facebook page. Quote

LeanderMomma Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Leander’s Parent Preview is Friday, May 24th in the main Leander gym. I’m sure there will be videos of that on DaTube shortly after. Cedar Park and Vandegrift usually have theirs around the same time. MadisonBandMan1 and gregorydf01 2 Quote

Aquaflamma85 Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Wow really cool announcement from Vista Ridge Glenn also announced their show today: Flourishes and Meditation Featuring the music of Peter Gabriel (San Jacinto), Son Lux, Horatio Spafford and Michael Gandolfi I think Cedar Park is the only school left to announce their show in LISD unless I missed something Quote
MadisonBandMan1 Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Ooh sounds interesting! I can't wait to see what both rouse and of course our reigning state champions have for us. That was a really cool announcement by the director, by the way. I like the route he went with it, really selling the design to the audience. Quote

I also love the new uniforms. Very distinctive. Quote

I think we have only just seen a mere glimpse of what the Ranger Band is going to accomplish in the coming years. VRPopPop and gregorydf01 2 Quote
immortalBlueOrchid Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 I’m very excited for this creative concept from Vista Ridge. Lost and Found was very good but the concept obviously had been done before. Quote
josephbandfan Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 I gasped when they opened the curtains and there was all that fog. Very exciting and I can't wait to see where they go with this. Garchomp 1 Quote
LHSax Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Even if they're going a "new direction," it's obvious their flare for showmanship and emotion that won them a state title last year is still very much present. I don't know that lightning will strike twice this year, but I think they're setting themselves up for long term sustained success. MadisonBandMan1 and Garchomp 2 Quote
Popular Post immortalBlueOrchid Posted April 25, 2019 Popular Post Posted April 25, 2019 Yeah, just watching how their director addresses his band reflects an extremely high level of maturity for the entire organization. The student’s excitement made it clear that they are extremely motivated and supportive of working hard to attempt to re-capture the feelings of success they had last year. I have an inkling that this will be a VERY strong year for Vista as well as for Texas marching band as a whole. I’m super excited to observe from an outside perspective as this past year was my final marching season. I’ll still be attached to my band but being detached from the competitive aspect will hopefully give me a better viewpoint to appreciate the art on display. gregorydf01, LeanderMomma, Garchomp and 1 other 4 Quote
Dog885 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Looks like Austin Bowie announced their show, it's called The Apotheosis and it just says that the music is by James Horner, Paul Dukas, and David MaslankaThis show is funny to me, because back in early 2017 the directors had fake shows on their whiteboard and one of them was called Apotheosis and was music by Karel Husa and it also had Yackety Sax. immortalBlueOrchid Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Timber’s show design team has MANY similarities to the Boston Crusaders design team...I don’t know if this a new team for TC but I’m guessing that it might be. I’m also guessing that TC won’t be the only school in KISD that uses this design team Quote
Trumpetman7 Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 The source material from Timber Creek's show this year includes -Prelude from The Day the Earth Stood Still by Bernard Herrman -Harrison's Dream by Peter Graham -Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap -Nimrod by Edward Elgar -UFO by Michael Daugherty The music seems to line up with the show title.
