Guys if you have FloMarching, be sure and catch Bryan at 5:24 (UD Arena). I saw that show live on Saturday in College Station and it is just SO FUN! Also, Alvin at 6:20 (a really cool Amelia Earhart theme with an airplane prop!) and Pflugerville’s tribute to Isadora Duncan (the Mother of Modern Dance) at 7:43 are must sees as well. Pflugerville is the current Scholastic A state champ of the TCGC circuit btw. Great stuff!

Also if you can watch during the day at all, Churchill at 1:39 has an absolutely gorgeous show! Watch it! :)

If my list is right, congratulations to Alvin, Pflugerville, Winston Churchill, Sothlake Carroll, Sachse, and Bryan on advancing to Scholastic A Semifinals!

Disclaimer: I haven't seen anything yet.

Very happy to see Pflugerville shoot up to a 92.905 from an 88.640 and beat a lot of the groups that outscored them in prelims. Just goes to show that a stronger performance (and/or a different panel) can really change how successful you are!

Dripping Springs and McNeil are doing outstanding in the Open class. Currently in 2nd and 3rd place. It'd be great to see one or both of them medal in finals and get promoted to World class after the season is over. Another sign that guards in Texas are continuing to improve!

Shocked to see Stoneman Douglas in 15th place in World class. Even after tragedy struck their program last year, they managed to place in the middle of the finalist pack, with a performance that will always be one of the most affecting for me. Based on the scores going in, I thought that the 14th and 15th place finalist spots were probably the only two spots up for grabs. The upside of this is that The Woodlands is ranked 13th. Northview and Stoneman Douglas are right behind them score-wise, then there's a little bit of a gap before you hit Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, a newcomer that placed 2nd in the Open Class last year. With a completely different panel for semis and a new set of performances, I don't think anything is guaranteed, but I'm cautiously optimistic we'll have a TX group in finals. As an aside, CTJ apparently made *enormous* improvements since we last saw them. They didn't make it to semis, but they were awfully close to Marcus, a group that made semis. I think it shows a lot of character. You don't stop fighting until it's over!

Edit: PCEP placed 2nd, not 3rd in the Open class.

Today has been nuts trying to keep up with all the scores and casts!  Looks like it's been a great day for Texas though!  Pflugerville seems to be the story of the day for me, they rocketed up!  The facebook post of their directors seeing the scores gives me all the feels.  Congrats to them and everyone else.

Congrats to The Woodlands on making World Class Finals! I'm not sure whether they've made it before. This might be their first time. I know they had a world guard back in the early 2000s.

One surprise in prelims was replaced by another one in semis. Stoneman Douglas shot back up to a comfortable 12th place. Well, no surprise there. But then Ayala shot down from a comfortable 12th place to 18th place and completely missed finals. That's quite a difference in performance, or judges' opinion. Did they have a rough run?

Meanwhile, Avon was rewarded 1st place with a 98.0 (!) in SEMIFINALS. A Scholastic World Class guard hasn't broken 98 in FINALS since 2005, back when it was Scott Chandler's last year as guard director at James Logan. (That show, In the Cradle of Odin, is still probably the best Scholastic World show of all time, though many of the skills performed today are more difficult.) We may finally get another 98+ score tomorrow night!

Ayala definitely had a rougher run in semifinals than in prelims.

It’s TWHS’s very first time to make SW finals. Everyone here is crazy proud of their accomplishment.

That’s so great! Congratulations and best of luck in finals!

IA finals are done!  I particularly enjoyed:

- National Avenue, very pretty show, loved the work with the skirts and that flag feature was great.

- Annesidora, really fun show, loved the character work and those big sequential rifle and saber tosses were nails.  Enjoyed getting to see them live in Denton!

- St. Anns, really cool show design, loved the mirroring of work on both sides of the floor.

- Icon, so so so well performed, loved that flag feature at the end.  They're small, but definitely mighty.  I'd be surprised if they don't take it home tonight.

Looking forward to Scholastic A finals, and especially Southlake Carroll and Pflugerville!
