whatiscrockettimshaking Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 Moments on the forums from long ago where they post a prediction or a speculation and it comes out to be true! It is always fun to see how the unpredictable is somehow predicted or to go back to see how things used to be before now! User: ~ME~ October 11 2015 "I couldn't be happier for Flower Mound! It's always great to see a new regional champion crowned! That show is and will continue to be a GE monster for the rest of the season, it's just incredible. Easily one of my favorite shows of the year so far. And them winning a performance caption in both prelims and finals is very interesting I must say, I don't know what to think of that. Even though it's impossible to tell exactly how well they'll place at San Antonio, I would absolutely love to see FloMo walk out of the Alamodome with medals. It's at least pretty clear that they're in for their best season yet, and I can't wait to see how the rest of it goes! Congrats to them once again on their first regional championship!" whatiscrockettimshaking Posted May 24, 2019 Author Posted May 24, 2019 HOLY TARPON SPRINGS! Sorry Carmel, Avon, and BA, y’all are going to have to bow down to Tarpon this year. There is no way that’s loosing. -MadisonBandMan October Seventh Twenty Eighteen I still think tarpon springs is going to take it this year, although BA performs that show extremely well. -MadisonBandMan November Ninth Quote

I'm sorry about the over excitement there. The biggest reason why I loved that show was because I've seen the movie Ready Player One and read the book, and the show matched both so well, and the theatrics were so perfect in my opinion. I loved the ballad but my favorite part was at the end of the show when some of the band members were literally sprinting across the field. That moment reminded me so much of the movie I probably would have thrown my baby if I saw it live. I can see why they didn't place where I thought they would but I definitely thought they had GE in the bag. Man I love that show. That's another show that I still find myself whistling to sometimes. Even as a huge fan of that show, I can’t quite explain it. There’s just something about the overall product that really hit me MadisonBandMan1 1 Quote
CTJBandPops Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 I predicted in 2017 that the data showed that CTJ would win BOA-SA based on their 2.80 Point win in Austin with a full show on the field, and their 4.70 Point win in Midland - the earliest program to break a 90 in a regional. they went on to win BOA-SA and scored the new highest score at BOA-SA and the highest score outside of GNats with 96.625 yes - I am biased - but I posted it because I believed it - otherwise I would have to take crap from LeanderMomma if they did not live up to it. not ready to commit just yet to a placement - I have no doubt that CTJ will finish in the top 5 in BOA-SA and set a record for doing so 9 consecutive years (for a 12 year old program) - I fully expect them to Medal in Indy in 2019 #teamtexas TWHSParent 1 Quote
TWHSParent Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Since I no longer have any real inside info, I can't say much about TWHS in 2019. I have heard that they will have a stylistically different program in 2019 from recent years, so we shall see if that is true or not. I also hope they have learned from 2017, where they could never find the right ending for the show and were re-writing music and drill right through Indy - I don't mean tweaks, i mean complete re-writes. The show ending between SA and GN was completely different, and they never got it completely right. I think 2018 was a response to that, where they wrote a complete show even if it wasn't quite to the demand of previous shows. It is to be seen if the team can up the demand and write a complete show that doesn't need massive re-writes all through the season. Yeah, Harvey was an impact in 2017, but that was to execution, not to design. So I'll be a little bold and show confidence that the design team has learned from '17 and '18, and will write a high demand show that will only require tweaks, not massive re-writes. With the experience gained by the 120 freshmen last year, they'll up their level of execution with the increased demand, and will finish top 5 in SA and GN. WoodlandsMom4ever and CTJBandPops 2 Quote

TWHSParent Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 While I didn't make a bold prediction, what I wrote here was right on... http://www.txbands.com/forums/index.php?/topic/7074-2018-boa-texas-season-who-is-performing-where/?p=103228 "How to say this delicately... based on last year's result, Prosper isnot a GN finalist lock. If they can find 4 or 5 points with this year'sshow, then they will be fighting for top 12. We'll have to see whatthey learned from GN 2017 and how they apply that to their show in 2018.I certainly enjoyed watching them at Indy, but a guaranteed finalistband, even without other TX bands present? I wouldn't say that rightnow, but we'll have a good data point after the DFW regional, andcertainly after San Antonio. In other words, this does not definitively move the needle forpotential non-TX finalist bands at GN (yet). It will, however, knocksomeone out of semi-finals, as I think they are at least asemi-finalist." CTJBandPops 1 Quote
LeanderMomma Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 I’m boldly predicting a phenomenal year for Leander. And I don’t give people crap. I just gently correct them when they are wrong. MadisonBandMan1 and b_radon_inSA 2 Quote

I think it finished right where it should have, but back in mid-October, I really thought it was going to develop into something unbelievably spectacular. Bandwoww 1 Quote
kold Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 I don’t post a lot on here, so I can’t say I’ve said anything yet, but I’ll go ahead and make a prediction for this next year. We’ll sweep 2A at DFW again, do it at Waco, and go on to win our class at SA. I’ll be bold and throw state finals in as well. LeanderMomma 1 Quote
gmtb617 Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Shoutout to LHSax for correctly predicting VR’s stated rationale for their 2019 show design changes. Does seem like an odd move though. My guess (hope?) is that they've thought "alright, we made a huge leap largely due to a once in a generation kind of 'universally loved by all' show design. But if we want to stay in this echelon, we're gonna have to take the next step in pushing the envelope." Because, as has been pointed out, VR by no means had the most difficult show in the state (not taking away anything of course. I've expressed my love for the show plenty), and have generally been pretty conservative. Similar to how the dance team integration was fantastic a few years ago, but they made the switch back to color guard as an investment in the future, I see this as a similar move. Can't wait to see what they show up with next year. Quote
LHSax Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Shoutout to LHSax for correctly predicting VR’s stated rationale for their 2019 show design changes. Ha, appreciate the shout-out. I'm all aboard with the change of direction so far. Excited to see what the visual package will look like. Quote
