I really liked TWHS's rendition of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer's version of Ginastera's Toccata in 2018 (did I give everyone credit?). I still find myself rolling that through my head from time to time.

I love that rendition as well

Pat Metheny’s Above the Treetops in CTJ 2017 was probably the best pre-show music I’ve heard since LD Bell ten years prior...

until Ronald Reagan’s Guidry pre-show music in 2018 may have passed it for me.

Good pre-shows do so much to set a band up for success.

more Pat Metheny to come in 2019 - or so I am told.......

Richland 2007 was the Halo Theme suprisingly! Really love that show

Some of my favorites are:

Reagan 2018 Fugue in G Minor

Richland 2005 Aloft, Sleep and Incantation and Dance (honestly love all the music from that show but those stuck out the most to me)

Haltom 2017 Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra

Lawrence Central 2004 and Richland 2017 Danzon No.2

Broken Arrow 2015 Waltz No. 2

Avon 2017 Simple Gifts (I think i'm not 100% sure)

I have more but I'll post them later

Very good show.

I also have to bring up Clements HS Adrenaline rush show. Although this show never truly cleaned up, this show was phenomenal. Very very good musical program.

Avon 2016 “Go Forth” was a blend of Copeland and Bon Iver music. Simple Gifts was part of the closer.

Can I ask which Bon Iver songs? I’ve listened to Go Forth a couple of times and somehow missed it

Thank you I guess I mixed up the years. Nevertheless I loved the closer and overall super amazing show

I’m so sad you changed your nickname. You’ll be AvonDad forever to me!

I figured since we've seniored out, it was time to update it?  Maybe I should change it back, but now we are on the outside looking in, just like everyone else. :)

I'm afraid I couldn't tell you which Bon Iver songs as I hadn't heard of him until then.  If you search YT for "Copeland Bon Iver complete" you'll find the concert that I think the show was a take off from.  There are also videos that describe how the arranger put the two styles together which will hook any music type person.

It never gets out of our blood though. I’ll always be a Leander mom. :)

I guess it just made me melancholy to see the new nick. But I understand the era is over. However, being an alumni parent is pretty darn exciting too!

I forget the name of FloMo's closer from '17, but I absolutely loved it. In my opinion they did it better than vanguard.

Sound Of Silence - Vandy 2017

Battery - Leander 2018 (Still whistle it to this day)

The Hand of Fate pt. 1 - Keller 2016

There are many more but I don't have the time or space to write them all down.
