FaultLineBlues Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Regardless of execution, what's everyone's favorite source music they've heard in a high school show? I'll start off with some of my favorites. Leander 2015: Lost It To Trying by Son Lux Leander 2016: Weapons EP by Son Lux Cedar Ridge 2013: The New Moon in the Old Moon's Arms, Mvmt. 8 - 2000 AD by Michael Kamen Goodnight Moon by Eric Whitacre Cedar Ridge 2016: Dauðalogn by Sigur Rós Quote
TWHSParent Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 I really liked TWHS's rendition of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer's version of Ginastera's Toccata in 2018 (did I give everyone credit?). I still find myself rolling that through my head from time to time. CTJBandPops and FaultLineBlues 2 Quote

FaultLineBlues Posted May 21, 2019 Author Posted May 21, 2019 Here are a few more of my favorites! Ronald Reagan 2015: Ara Batur by Sigur Rós & Test Drive from How to Train Your Dragon Round Rock 2018: The Too Many Zooz song they played, not sure which one it was. CTJ 2017: Medea's Dance of Vengeance by Samuel Barber Quote
principalagent Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Pat Metheny’s Above the Treetops in CTJ 2017 was probably the best pre-show music I’ve heard since LD Bell ten years prior... until Ronald Reagan’s Guidry pre-show music in 2018 may have passed it for me. Good pre-shows do so much to set a band up for success. FaultLineBlues and LeanderMomma 2 Quote

Guest Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 I also have to bring up Clements HS Adrenaline rush show. Although this show never truly cleaned up, this show was phenomenal. Very very good musical program. Quote

If you search YT for "Copeland Bon Iver complete" you'll find the concert that I think the show was a take off from. There are also videos that describe how the arranger put the two styles together which will hook any music type person. Quote

MadisonBandMan1 Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 I forget the name of FloMo's closer from '17, but I absolutely loved it. In my opinion they did it better than vanguard. Sound Of Silence - Vandy 2017 Battery - Leander 2018 (Still whistle it to this day) The Hand of Fate pt. 1 - Keller 2016 There are many more but I don't have the time or space to write them all down.
