FutureDemon08 Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I am shopping around for a new horn, and i was wondering which brand of Euphonium is better than the rest? Quote
bariphonium Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 I just switched from a Yamaha to a Wilson, and I love the bigger size, but I've also heard that King is good. Let me know what you find; I'll be getting a horn for myself soon. Quote
FutureDemon08 Posted December 16, 2005 Author Posted December 16, 2005 I am going to start playing with a besson Quote
Dynasty Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 I've played on a Willson (Yes, it's spelled with 2 L's) for the last 2 years. It's a beautiful horn. Fantastic tone in all ranges -- low to high. I played on a Yamaha 642 before the Willson, and the Willson uses a lot more air. I guess the horn just has a "warmer" feel to it. Willson puts a lot of care into their horns... even the slides are engraved with the serial number. I would recommend a Willson or Besson... in that order. I wouldn't buy a horn until after the TMEA or TBA conventions. You can go there and try out all the euphoniums you want from all manufacturers until you find what you like best. Quote
GCS-Euph Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 I vote Kanstul and then DEG in the key of G....oh...wait....you were talking about concert instruments. Never mind. Quote
bariphonium Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 I'm looking to play casually after I graduate. Which shops do you guys recommend I go to to purchase a horn? The ones nearby don't carry quality horns, and other than at TMEA, I'm not sure where else to purchase horns. Quote
jwt3k Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Willsons are great, but cost a TON of money. Quote
