Quadmom68 Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 I think it's on my son's band's website, but I can't vouch for the accuracy. Quote
Quadmom68 Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Looks like the DFW BOA this weekend may be overshadowing this contest? (isn't DFW BOA this weekend?) I'm not versed enough in marching bands (I was choir in high school, so this is all new to me) to be able to make predictions, but surely someone out there has some predictions for this contest? It's only 3 days away. Quote
GetStraightToIt Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 I’ll take a stab at it. 1. Summit: After an awesome showing at Area B finals last year, it seems like they’ve improved immensely based off of a video I saw from them. The woodwinds make their presence known and the horn line has some beautiful moments (yes mellos). I think they can win this. 2. Duncanville: They’ve been fairly quiet this season but make no mistake Duncanville is Duncanville. I have no doubt that they’ll sound great but my main concern is what this group can do visually. Nonetheless its not a good idea to doubt this group as they have a knack for rising to the occasion as they did in a very competitive Area B last year proving many people wrong. 3. Lake Ridge: They seem to have a good chunk of their show on the field and are fairly clean at that. I believe this cleanliness will be rewarded and they’ll sit at third. 4. Sachse: This group always seems to bring unique and interesting ideas to the field when I see them. 5. Lovejoy: For their size, they can put out some sound. They put together a gorgeous show last year and am excited to see what they do this Saturday. Quadmom68 1 Quote

ViewFromTheBox Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Frisco Centennial - “Rite of Passage”: Really nice sound and strong visual performance. Loved the tuba solo in the middle. Don’t see that everyday. Great color from the guard silks in the ballad. Xenon 1 Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Lebanon Trail - “Rain”: Would not know that’s a group in its fourth year. Fantastic sound and great visual run as well. Really enjoyed that performance. Xenon 1 Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Independence - “Ritual”: Another new-ish Frisco school with a really good performance. Some really strong musical moments, especially in the ballad. Xenon 1 Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Sherman - “Spring Eternal”: some really good moments musically, especially in the woodwinds. Might my favorite ballad so far today. Xenon 1 Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Also, for those interested, Richardson isn’t here from the schedule above and we started at 1. Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 McKinney North - “Life without Strings”: possibly the best visual performance of the day so far. Lot of really good musical moments in the second and third moments too. Great soloists. Xenon 1 Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Lakeview Centennial - “Technicolor Clavier”: Loved Moonlight Sonata as the ballad. Another strong visual performance as well. Xenon 1 Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Lovejoy - “Juliet”: For once the story has a happy ending. Best overall performance of the day so far. Just great all around. Love this show. Xenon 1 Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Summit - “The Last Ones”: trying time our bias aside (graduated 2012), it’s hard not to love how far this group has come in the years since. Felt like the best musical performance of the day so far. Interested to see where they land today. Xenon and Quadmom68 2 Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Lake Highlands - “SOL”: Definitely the show with the most interesting design choices. Drumline in the backfield pit for the first three minutes or so. Executed extremely well musically and visually. Xenon 1 Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Sachse - “Matryoshka”: incredible performance. Loved the music and very well done visually. Also a big fan of the slight uniform color change halfway through. Xenon 1 Quote
