euro_euph06 Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Even though I am not an official PR fan (Im a BD and Coats fan) I really liked the '98 show "Songs from the Eternal City." Quote
MartinHorn Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 If you like old Phantom shows listen to the 1979 one. Hall of the Mountain King is awesome. Quote
Fortisimo Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Their rendition of Night on Bald Mountain is pretty cool. That's an awesome song. Oh, and their 1999 show "Tchaikovsky Tragedy And Triumph" is pretty sweet too. Quote
Xenon Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 No one has even mentioned Phantom 1996 - A Defiant Heart. This is one of the best Phantom shows and ranks among the top of the best shows of all times. Quote
Fortisimo Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Oh, that is a really good one... I mean, of course it is, it's Shotakovich, lol, its gotta be awesome. Check out this clip: (it's a clip of Tchaikovsky Tragedy And Triumph) http://www.regiment.org/media/audio/1999-T...nd%20Triump.mp3 Quote

Fortisimo Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I'm not sure about the hornline thing... they ahve a very nice full sound, but I think the cavaliers are a bit better technically speaking. And in my book, technicality is a big thing. Anybody can go out and blast through a halftime section, but to play insanely fast technical passages while marching takes some real skill. Quote
bariphonium Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Well if you want blasting, check out the Scouts, '95 and '96 especially. They'll push the stands back, yes, but Phantom's full sound is much harder to get. When you get at the level they're at, you better know the show with your eyes closed, because they're probably closing their eyes to listen that much better. Loud is one thing. Full is another. Quote
Fortisimo Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 This is very true/; Holy crap, I just listened to Phantom of the Opera by SCV for the first time in a while, and daaamnnn, that's what I am talking about. We shold totally friggin' do that for our show. Their last movement is full as heck in the days of the Old Testament! Quote
