MarchingBandLife Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 What is everyone's favorite show from 2019? What are your favorite parts or features from the show? Quote
josephbandfan Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 Ronald Reagan is my overall favorite at the moment. Purely entertainment wise, maybe Radioactive. Quote
CTJBandPops Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 CTJ - the dance movement in "Just cant wait to be King" - pure enjoyment Quote
LeanderMomma Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 I’m partial to Leander obviously and I think this is our best show to date, but Vandegrift is just spectacular right now. Quote
WoodlandsMom4ever Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 I’m biased obviously.... but will wait to say my top (other than my bias) after I actually get to see a lot of them in San Antonio. I haven’t had a chance to see enough of them to choose yet. Quote
LHSbandDad Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 I will continue the trend of talking about our own schools show but seeing our kids dance to Brittany Spears and then then march off to the 1812 Overture in the closer is pretty awesome. Other schools I have seen live and like a lot.....Vandy, Rouse, Reagan, Cedar Park, CTJ, and Johnson HS in Buda, TX. Their race car show was a crowd please and for a new small single A school they looked great!!! CTJBandPops 1 Quote

Best new band of only Freshmen and Sophomores that I’ve ever seen, and I have seen quite a few of those believe it or not, especially around here. They are going to be a force to be reckoned with in a VERY short time! CTJBandPops 1 Quote
PantherBone Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Princeton. Trombone. Feature. That's not just my "I'm performing it" bias talking. The crowd went nuts when we finished it at Little Elm and I have't seen a bigger crowd reaction to another moment. For other bands, I thought Mineola and Wylie did amazing shows! LeanderMomma 1 Quote
lost Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 It’s very nice seeing Johnson jumping right into competition. They were over Ann Richards at Austin and I think they’ll keep the lead on them to become contenders for the A Title. I’d really like to see them in exhibition one last time LeanderMomma 1 Quote

gmtb617 Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Favorite Houston band this year so far, excluding TWHS: As of now, SFA. I think I’ll grow to seriously enjoy the show. Favorite band overall this year so far: TOUGH! Currently I’m thinking Leander. (Although I’ve not seen top DFW bands yet.) If anyone will take over Leander for my favorite overall band in the future, it will probably be Ronald Reagan. Quote
SpartanBandAlum Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 My obvious bias is shining through, but I’ve really enjoyed seeing our show evolve this year. Our music book is great, the drill’s challenging in a way that’s different from past years, and it’s just really fun to perform Quote
BlueCircle Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 My favorite overall packages so far are Reagan and TWHS. I LOVE Keller’s closer (I’m biased). Also, Hebron’s opener has me in awe. I can’t wait to see Leander’s Britney section live. Bowie’s aesthetic and attention to detail is enthralling and I love Waxahachie’s entire music book. There’s so much more and I think this thread definitely needs to be revisited after SA and Nats. cburkhalter and bandtingz 2 Quote
LeanderMomma Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 I bet we’ll be discussing JB Alexander a lot more after San Antonio as well. Quote
ValleyBandFanatic Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 I love Vandergrift’s show this year Quote
PSHSMom Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 Well obviously my favorite show this year was the Plano Band's Marionette I am partial to the Pre and Post Show's Send in the Clowns, brings back memories! But really the second movement is beautiful. They aren't a BOA band, but still enjoyed their show this year. But of the show's I have seen live, it would be Wakeland's show. That Wylie Band has a good show too. I haven't really seen much of anyone else's! I have to go get a month's subscription to FloMarching so I can watch BOA SA. NTxBandMom8 and LeanderMomma 2 Quote

bandtingz Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 CP's woodwind feature! Maybe a little biased... I love Reagan's opener (they have a insane woodwind feature as well). Quote
oddlynormal Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 Houston Area guy here! I am in LOVE with Porter's Swan Lake and Equus show. Who ever decided to roll those two works together is a genius. It works so well. I foresee them headed to San Antonio again. They move with absolute grace and are really the total package. A close second, and sometimes first, is Galena Park HS. They are playing music that you only hear bands in other areas of the state playing. Mahler 2 and Shostakovich 11 with Alanis Morissette's Uninvited really do work together. Both of these bands make bold sounds that I find refreshing and strangely reminiscent of Houston's glory years in the 90's. I hear Bob Chreste is working with both groups which would explain the sounds! However, my favorite show of the entire year thus far is Vandegrift. They are going to do amazing things at nationals. I just may make my way up there to see how it all goes. JullianG13 1 Quote
Scansion Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 Ronald Reagan has a really effective drill. Vandegrift’s ballad has a great vibe. Hebron’s percussion book is stellar. Quote
BandFan59 Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 I know this has been said many times already, but Ronald Reagan's show is absolutely incredible. They are performing at such a high level, especially visually. Quote
takigan Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 Didn't trek out to see any shows this year but I've been watching some vids. My favorite so far has been Cedar Ridge. I think I've watched their Part 3 drum break (with eight chuu-daiko taiko drums) like 20 times. FaultLineBlues 1 Quote
