Very different from the stuff you see in Texas, but very enjoyable. Probably the best singers I've heard in a marching band!

The show definitely grew on me as it went on. They perform the heck out of it, especially the soloists!

I don't know if maybe it's the writing or just me but does Carmel sound like they're having some minor phasing issues to anyone else?

Definitely heard a tear. Their field coverage and amount of performers is insane.

Lincoln-Way has some awesome moments but I don’t see them staying as 3rd in AAAA. The gimmick is cool I guess, but the show is pretty standard to me. Still a very worthy finalist. Great flute soloist!

I really tried to watch Carmel with an open mind this time around and really objectively see what they do right that makes them so though to beat.Their guard is phenomenal, the visual package does a good job of taking advantage of their size (although it’s just a bit too all over the place for my taste), and there are some great musical moments if you’re patient enough to get to them. That was definitely a iffy run for them musically (the tear actually lasted for quite a while), though I anticipate that won’t happen again in a couple weeks.

That said, I think the gap to Avon tonight will be pretty substantial, and I think there’s plenty of space in that gap to fit at least 1 and maybe 2 Texas bands in there. This of course assumes the Texas 6 can’t top Avon of course, which I’m still skeptical about.

Kevin is gonna have to deal with another cold winter, y'all. He's not flying as far southwest as we want him to this year.

I keep saying that but no one believes me.

Disagree about playing for second. That was very much beatable.

I love how we NEVER give up down here. That’s the attitude that will get these Texas bands on the podium.

The moment in Avons show between and ballad and the closer gives me the smallest bit of hope that a Texas band can take home the Eagle. Not impossible to beat, but realistically it will be very very challenging.

Homestead going after Avon is pretty revealing. Homestead has an ambitious show and just needs to take advantage of the next three weeks for cleaning. Rough performance it seems, or maybe Avon was THAT good. The ending of the ballad and the soprano sax solo was pretty magical.

Any given Sunday, or Saturday in this case! I'm also saying this more than just blind Texas homerism, just don't think the overall design of the show is THAT strong.
