chickora Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Yeah, so finals is coming up.. I know that each school is different when it comes to exemptions. At our school, we are allowed to exempt three classes per semester, but only exempt a final to that class once..Meaning, you can't exempt the Math Final twicee. So pretty much, band is kool. I don't have to show up on Monday, nor on Thursday. It's so awesome. Basically, I am only going to school next week for a day and a half. Wo0t!!! Quote
TRtrumpet Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Lucky! Well we can exempt classes too, but you have to have an 80 or higher which. The thing is, the classes I want to exempt are the ones I dont have 80's or higher in... haha. If I could I'd exempt Spanish and IPC. I hate those. Quote

Wow, we need an 85 or higher...and also, you can't have no more than 2 ab. in that class... 3 tardies equals one abs..., so basically if you have 9 tardies overall.. You have to take the exam. Quote
GHtubaNja Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 we get to exempt if we're passing the class lol. Quote

For example, you can't really exempt the class, unless you want to have a 15-30% chunk taken out of your grade, which is enough to fail you sometimes. So, yeah, you have to take the final for EACH class. This looks to be a fun week of finals for me! (note the EXTREME sarcasm). - mm Quote

supermanuel Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Exemptions are a little different at our school too First semester Freshmen & Sophomores get none Juniors get one Seniors get two Second semester Freshmen get one Sophomores get two Juniors get three and Seniors get four(or maybe three) You have to have a grade of 85 or higher with one absence 90 or higher with two absences or 95 or higher with three absences ou can exempt any class but you can only exempt a final exam once Quote
Jag Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 You gotta have a 95 or higher and you have to be a junior, or in a junior level class. And no more than 2 absences. You can exempt as many as you want but you have to take 2 core finals. Starting next semester, no exemptions whatsoever in the whole district. Quote

Juniors and Seniors are exempt in exams by the following Avg of 80-84 in Tri and 0 absences Avg of 84-89 in Tri and 1 absence Avg of 90-94 in Tri and 2 absences Avg of 94-99 in Tri and 3 absences 2 tardies count as an absence in the exemption system Quote
Keyboard_Countessa Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 In my school, you can exempt a class if your average is 80 or higher and you have no more than 3 absences (3 tardies=1 absence). Freshmen get 1 exemption per semester, sophomores 2, juniors 3, and seniors can exempt 3 in fall and all of them in the spring. You can't exempt the same class twice unless you're a senior. This year I'm planning on exempting Economics, Psychology and Calculus. But for my Newspaper final I just have to write a feature story and if I turn it in early I don't have to come to class on our final day, which means I'll be able to sleep in all 3 days of finals. Go me. Quote
MartinHorn Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 In AISD the rule is you have to have an average of 80 or higher no more than two tardies, no more than three excused absences, no unexcused absences, no OCS (On Campus Suspension), and you have to be a junior or senior. Sophmores can earn exemptions in their core classes (Math, Science, English, History) in the spring semester by completing this criteria plus passing their TAKS test. Sorry freshman none for you. . I only have to take my Algebra II exam. Quote
nnelsonbsn Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 im taking no finals this whole year Quote

n3rdu5 Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 at Spring, our exemptions is... freshman/sophomore = exempt up to 4 exams junior/senior = exempts all exams you need an 80 semester average to exempt (in whatever class you're exempting), you can only have 2 excused abscences (no unexcused), and you can't have any discipline stuff. well, i think thats all the rules. haha. our grading system is like twizzlaar's.
