SpartanBandAlum Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 Considering that Clear Creek is making the journey to San Antonio, I’m expecting another big step up for them! Quote

Yeah Clear Creek was a very pleasant surprise last year. Not the most powerful sound, but very clear and characteristic. They were also one of the cleanest bands visually at Friendswood. Just a little more numbers and theyll break out. Quote

They definitely came a long way in just a year, they were 2nd to last at area in 2018. Quote

chesteriop Posted June 19, 2020 Posted June 19, 2020 I would say look out for Colleyville Heritage, as they're doing BOA DFW and Waco, but it looks like they're getting a new head and a new assistant director. Hopefully the staff change isn't too rough for them. Quote

They definitely seem to be growing, and now that they're set with a solid director I can't wait to see what comes from them. Quote

It looks like they are getting a new director this year, and word on the street is that someone from a major 6A powerhouse just down the street from them is headed that way. it was Gary Barnard former McKinney North BD and former Southlake Asst. Popular Post An Inspirational Pinecone Posted July 6, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 6, 2020 I've been hesitant to say quite a few things before cause I'm one of the only people on here that represent TWHS but now that I'm graduated I feel I have a bit more freedom. I'll start with this: Mr. Vanderkolff, The Woodlands' drill writer and the drill writer for Flomo and the Bluecoats, said that On The Town was his favorite show he's ever made. It was pretty obvious though as he spent much, MUCH more time with us last year than he did years prior. That's not me bragging as I had no part in designing it BUT it's pretty darn cool to be a part of performing it. I think it's safe to say you can expect more shows similar to On The Town from groups he writes drill for (up to you to decide whether that's a good thing or not). Another thing is that Jason Harvey, former assistant director for TWHS in 2015 and 2016, was hired by our intermediate school to teach (the old director there retired). He is an excellent trombone player and low brass instructor and his first class of students arrives at the highschool this year so I'll be excited to see how the low brass performs in the upcoming years. (That's not an insult to anyone btw) gmtb617, Parkwoodmom, Raydurs and 2 others 5 Quote
