Xenon Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 What the heck is Mansfield doing going all the way out to St. Louis? Quote
MartinHorn Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Quote What the heck is Mansfield doing going all the way out to St. Louis? Guess they feel like traveling this year. Yep, I believe this is Martins first time competing in a BOA competition, but I may be wrong. Quote
euro_euph06 Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 According to the e-newsletter, the Houston-area Regional Championship event is scheduled for October 1, 2006 in Pearland, TX at the Pearland Football Stadium. Wow...interesting selection of venue. But I like the date much better than it was previously. Quote
Xenon Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 I'm pretty sure that was a typo. Being on the 1st would make it on a Sunday and it is still listed as October 14th on the BOA website. Quote
mbui Posted June 17, 2006 Author Posted June 17, 2006 The Rice University football team has a home game on October 14th so BOA was forced to move the Houston Regional elsewhere. This is unfortunate because there are mass renovations going on at Rice Stadium right now. The stadium is going to be BEAUTIFUL once all is said and done. Hope to see the Houston Regional back at Rice in 2007. I do applaud BOA for keeping the Houston Regional on the 14th though. It's much better than the first weekend of October. Anyways, Pearland High School is an excellent choice to host a Bands of America Regional. They have one of the finest high school venues in the Houston area. And hey, Pearland is right up the highway from me! (Press Box View - Pearland ISD Stadium) Courtesy of: http://www.pearlandisd.org/pisd/turf.htm Quote
mnkyman Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 ^yup yup construction...thats why exsightment of sound isnt going to be there this year Quote

mbui Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 An update: The BOA McAllen Regional has now been moved back to its original home in La Joya. Quote
PrideOfPearland Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I wonder if my band is still gonna be exhibition then... Quote

We have a game against McAllen Memorial at McAllen Stadium that day as well...so we are going to be moving back and forth that game I was hoping they would move the game to our stadium so we wouldn't have to spend so much time on the road for the game...but I guess it's no biggy. It's only an extra 10 minutes on the road. *sigh* Man...we BETTER get to compete in finals One of the things that I do enjoy about BOA for some reason is finals. I guess it's because of the retreat Quote
Trumpet Master Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Don't sweat it. Just don't go to the football game. Ok, maybe it isn't as simple as that but hey, if Sharyland does compete I will have a TxB friend to meet at La Joya's retreat! Quote

And yes, he IS that good. Quote
trumpetman1288 Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Well, I learned an interesting tidbit of information today. It turns out that we is going to the houston regional as well. In the words of our director. "We need to learn how to compete with the big boys" which is something our school never did until two years ago. I look forward to seeing some of the best bands in the state at that contest. Best wishes and good luck to all that will be at that contest, especially us since we will DEFINTELY need it. Quote
Trumpet Master Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 I think we are going to Sam Houston Marching Fest and Super Regional, among other festivals. Its going to be a real fun year for DHS. Quote
trumpetman1288 Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Ah...the super regional. The contest that separates the men from the boys. One of, and if not, THE most cut-throat contest in the state. I'm not sure if we are going to the super regional or not this year. I kind of hope not just because I need to take my SAT again...especially since I want to apply to Harvard Hope you all have a fun/great year. I know the past two years for us have been a blast, hope to actually see you all march for a change. The only time I saw you all march was at USSBA and we were walking to the field getting ready to compete. Maybe I'll get to see you all from the stands this year. Quote
Trumpet Master Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 This past year, when I first heard you all at BOA La Joya, my first reaction was, "Hey, we played that last year!" Then you played Agnus Dei and Stained Glass and I thought, "I wish I was on the field." Santa Clara Vanguard 2000=awesome. Quote
