I'm still probably a newbie to understand the difference between between scoring for BOA and scoring for UIL. Can someone explain it in a nutshell?

BOA looks at music and marching but places a big emphasis in the overall show…it’s classified as general effect.  The “acting”,  the props, the flags are a major part of the judging.

UIL is purely marching and music. Judges don’t evaluate the show itself.  It’s only how well you march and play the music as a band and individually.

Are these the new scoring sheets that will be used for Area and State?

I believe this contest used the new state sheets. Judging (no pun intended) from the UIL website, I think area will still use the traditional five judges panel, but I might be wrong.

Interesting and useful description of each. Thank you for that.
