Really glad to see Cedar Park back to the form we know them by! A really well designed show that has a lot of great ensemble moments to make use of the larger group they have this year. Definitely going to see them again tomorrow night! I also hope they make the trip back to Indianapolis soon; they would easily be a contender for class AAA.

As an alumni of RRISD, I'm so proud of all of the showings from them so far! From Round Rock High School with probably the most challenging and entertaining show I've seen from them in a hot minute, to Cedar Ridge with my person favorite performance of the day (totally unbiased), to McNeil with potentially the best band I've ever seen from them! They've bumped up their volume so much, and I couldn't be happier for them.

Westwood was awesome. Fantastic playing. However, I would like to see their take on a more “mature” show concept. Christmas and Beauty and the Beast is cute, but I wanna see them switch it up next year.

Best run I've seen from Westwood all season, but still confused on the decision to play narration during the band announcement, it makes it hard to decipher either one. 

 

But still great run from Westwood and 100% in contention for a finals spot!

Their show that was supposed to happened last year would have taken them far. I’m still salty over Covid ruining that for them.

Respectfully disagree, I’m tired of these super serious/abstract shows and the nice, easy to understand shows that also entertain are a breath of fresh air. That’s what I loved about The Academy from years ago. They may not have been competitively successful, but people loved their shows and they loved performing it. As long as the students are enjoying what they are playing that’s all that matters.

It’s still a great show that I think has a shot at finals tomorrow. My personal preference is that I just don’t prefer shows based so heavily in pop culture.

I’m in love with the direction Vandegrift has taken visually since 2019. They deserve an award for having the best guard costumes again this year. They march so so so well! Like, Reagan, I think some of the moments are very reminiscent of the 2019 show. Oh, they want to win!! The energy in this performance is insane! That’s how you throw down a prelims run.

Vandegrift!!! That was so unbelievably amazing! The ballad has to be one of the best of the season. Who would've known Jar of Hearts would've been such a great marching band selection??? They have one of the best brass sections in the country. Absolutely loved every minute of the performance.

Very fun show from Leander! I was worried for the guard, but they’ve improved SO MUCH from Austin. That tuba part is soooo good! They make a great case for finals.

Admittedly I hadn't seen Leander since their first game this year until just now. Even on Box5, I can really feel the power they're putting forward in their sound! I remember hearing early season that this year's Leander isn't at the same quality of years past. Maybe that's true, I wouldn't know- but I've gotta say I'm LOVING the top notch work I'm seeing here.

Really enjoyed Leander. They still play with fantastic sounds and have great soloists and features. The show isn't as ambitious as Radioactive or even Polarity, but it has a very relaxed vibe to it that makes it easy to enjoy. I got a little bored towards the end with the transition out of the ballad, but the show finished on a great note.

Also of note, Coppell announced that they've been moved from 8:45 PM tonight to 9:45 AM tomorrow morning due to unforeseen circumstances. They're still in panel 1 with that new time.

I just adore the Leander show.  I notice something new each time.

Curious that both here and at BOA Austin, the announcer said they were from Austin instead of saying Leander…

Though, he also pronounced Buda like Buddha when announcing Johnson LOL.

James Bowie has gotten a lot better since Austin. They play very very well, but it’s hard to ignore the weaker visual program. Still a great performance, Bowie isn’t going anywhere any time soon! I hope the guard program can rebuild.

I love what the sax ensemble adds to Timber Creek’s show! And can we talk about that hornline???? The end feels a bit abrupt.

Wow wow wow Timber Creek!  I've never heard them sound so good.  I would be so thrilled to see them in finals tomorrow.  I'm so happy they made State finally and will get to perform again either way.

Timber Creek did really well! I was surprised at how strong they sounded, especially the brass. I'm glad they finally made it to UIL state. Have to agree that the ending was a bit abrupt though.

Wow, that is some sound from Timber Creek. Trumpets sounded great in their feature. I love that moment where the guard is in the center forming the oasis with the blue flags! It did seem a tad abrupt, but when I think more about it I suppose reaching the oasis is really the high point, so maybe not much to do in the story after that.
