Extremely talented soloists. Such a well designed show that stands out from the other Texas groups. I wish the ballad had a bigger impact. I really like how they don’t try to play everything as loud as possible. Expand Absolutely- each individual is moving with such a determined purpose and the uniformity of movement is striking. When they rotate that giant block before the opening hit - wow! TrebleMaker2 1 Quote

BOA tries, when they can to accommodate - if this was the normal Super Regional that may not have been as easy to do with 84 bands performing. due to the smaller size of the SR this year they had a number of TBD slots built in Visitor2020, InIt4Fun and ThomasV. 2 1 Quote
Origin Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 There is something so enchanting about Seven Lakes’ show. If they don’t make finals, I think they’ll be close. jpark and gmtb617 2 Quote

Origin Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 That giant prop looks like a nightmare to deal with…and it not being perfectly centered is bothering me lol Quote
Origin Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Coppell’s show is a PRODUCTION. Definitely some dirt around the edges, but I don’t think it’ll matter. I would be surprised if we don’t see them again tonight! The flute solo in the ballad!!!!! Gorgeous!! Percussion is so good! The ending is a bit much haha. I kindof forget that that giant prop is there most of the show, wish they used it more effectively considering how much of a hastle it probably is. box5sop and jmj 2 Quote
jmj Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Just lovely and gorgeous from Coppell! The woodwinds sound so good - amazing clarity on the runs. It all works for me- the guard, colors, horses, carousel- even some of the added horse sound effects are cute. Love Humoresque as the ballad and great warm tone in the lower register from the flute soloist on it. Quote
BandFan59 Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Loved that performance from Coppell. They have such a fun production this year; them, Leander, and Flower Mound really make me appreciate the more light hearted shows and how well designed they can be. Excellent job on all the technical runs and that brass is strong! Not the cleanest run we’ve seen from them but I think they did enough to get back into finals here. LeanderMomma 1 Quote
box5sop Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Important to note those kids were expecting to do a run last night and not early this morning. Way to persevere! Quote
FaultLineBlues Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 One thing that I definitely didn't miss about band is sitting near kids that spend an entire show making fun of a band out of some kind of insecurity, and then top it off by refusing to clap. box5sop and InIt4Fun 2 Quote

Origin Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Oak Ridge! Such great sounds! They may be smaller, but the quality has stayed the same. That guard is awesome, too. Quote

Origin Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Hebron low brass is crazy. The ballad is stunnnnning. Trombones in the closer are insane. That was scary good. Not totally obsessed with the visual theming though. 5 te 6 and Vidal28 2 Quote

jmj Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Yes yes yes! Jumping up and down in my living room!! HEBRON! I am gobsmacked that high schoolers can play like that. Depth of sound is astronomical - the bass!! The mello rips! Woodwind clarity! I love what they have done with the pens and the colors!! Absolutely fabulous! 1st for me! 5 te 6 and FaultLineBlues 2 Quote
Popular Post BandFan59 Posted November 6, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 6, 2021 Hebron is on a different level when it comes to musical abilities. The fact that they can perform that type of music so well while marching is incredible. The visual program has definitely been more fleshed out, especially in the closer. I had them down as winning UIL State but I might've underestimated them here; that could be a potential gold medalist show for me. 5 te 6, jmj and FaultLineBlues 3 Quote
Rubisco Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 I'm able to drop in for Hebron and Cypress Woods. Hebron was brilliant! That music could take them far at this contest. And the pens actually wrote some stuff on the field at the end. So pretty! I would score a small handful of these groups at a 95+, and when you factor in the pandemic, that's just crazy! Popular Post Nny14 Posted November 6, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 6, 2021 Hebron is just crazy good, they are absolutely in contention to win it all here. Their visual program is a lot better than people on here give them credit for. Super exciting drill and I love seeing the colors unfold from the pens as the show progresses. 5 te 6, jmj and FaultLineBlues 3 Quote
jmj Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 I forgot to also say that Hebron’s guard was soooo great, also!! Rifles throwing and catching some real high stuff! 5 te 6 1 Quote
