lost Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Is this top half / bottom half draw? Asking because UIL confused me. Quote
Rubisco Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Finalists aren't much of a surprise. I'm guessing a lot of people probably predicted at least 13 of the 14 going into the contest based on previous results. It's that final spot that was really up for grabs. Way to go, Pearland! Quote

Band2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Cedar Ridge music execution has vaulted them into top half. See them yesterday I was stunned. Quote

whenthebandbeginstoplay Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 I thought they cancelled top / half and it’s fully random now. Quote
An Inspirational Pinecone Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 This might cement Pearland as a consistent finalist, glad to see another Houston band at the top Quote
Bandaid101010 Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Congratulations to Pearland and Keller for popping that "bubble"! But watch out for Bowie next year! Quote
Band2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 According to someone I spoke with here it is still top half bottom half. Quote
Origin Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 Cedar Park has been so good this season that I didn’t realize that this is their first time back in finals since 2017!! Major accomplishment. And welcome back, Coppell! Rouse deserves a Texas-sized welcome as well!! VinoGirl 1 Quote

I guess I still know a thing or two 😛 That being said, I am worried for Round Rock. Grand Nationals will be harder to make Finals at than here, and I expected them to make it here. RR typically peaks right at 'Nats but unlike other recent years they have less than a week to work on it, and are doing State. I won't say it's impossible but they certainly have work ahead of them if they are to make GN Finals this year. The recaps that come out at midnight should be an indicator as to how much they should worry. Quote

Expand Round Rock did not attend GN in 2018, Prosper was the only Texas band that year, not making SA finals but made Gn finals. In 2019 Round Rock missed Austin finals but made SA finals though Quote
A Testing Trumpet Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 I believe they are referring to Round Rock in 2017. That year they placed 18th at SA, and made 12th at National finals. Coincidentally, 2017 was also the year Avon came to SA. L.D. Bell was the 15th place band that year with a score over 90. Quote
