I usually have complaints with Cartwright shows, but will Bell, I think it really works visually. All the props shape the field in a way that makes the band feel bigger than it actually is. Frankly, I was expecting a cleaner performance especially since the whole show doesn’t seem to be on the field, but it was still quite solid. The soloist in the ballad was awesome. Expand Yeah theyre guard is massive. In total they have 3 parts down, 5 in total. Quote

I saw their show this past week and just was not impressed. I don't know if the year off took a step back or not, but they did not seem like the old Keller we are used to seeing. Expand I dont know if you remember their 2019 show, Fearless, but I felt very similarly for the first part of the season because Keller always plays the long game and doesn't have the whole show out until their final competitions. The closer that year never got cleaned exceptionally well but was awesome. Very crazy drill and exceptional music. I expect something similar this year which is why it is taking them so long to get the show on the field. box5sop 1 Quote
jmartin1056 Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Are the 2 soloists for Marcus both Mellos? Also their drill is STUNNING!! I am in love with their diagonals! slowbrass and jmj 2 Quote
Origin Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Marcus - Lots of Tetris-esque props covering the field. This program is extremely well-rounded. From the guard to the percussion to the winds, every performer is so intentional with every note and movement. The ballad is stunning!!! I think they have a stronger performance in them for tonight though. jmartin1056 and jmj 2 Quote
jmj Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 That was fantastic from Marcus! Their ballad gave me goosebumps!! Love those rotating blocks, too! Quote
cjm715 Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Oh marcus that ballad, HITS DIFFERENT jmj 1 Quote
slowbrass Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 I don’t think I realized how little Marcus had on the field, but I absolutely love it so far. Musically they’re regal and under control, with such a beautiful and transparent sound. The ballad was particularly lovely in that aspect. Also these are some really great arrangements! Visually the guard pops and the two red and yellow soloists work so well. This is a great show. Quote
Origin Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Haltom - Second show in a row they’ve done that’s heavily themed around another culture. I think the visual theming could’ve been more tastefully done. They sound and look pretty good, but the music sometimes gets past them, which is going to be apparent with almost any band that goes right after Marcus. Quote
Origin Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 The wind is taking out so many props today Quote
DallasFan Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Did my eyes deceive me or did Hebron have an alto trombone soloist? Quote
Origin Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Quite liking Carroll’s show! Very ambitious!! They had the whole show on the field at HEB, so I was hoping they would’ve done a bit more cleaning since then, but it’s hot and they have a difficult show (and it doesn’t help that all their props blew over .) They’ll do great things in St. Louis, and I hope we get to see them again tonight. Quote
jmartin1056 Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Wakeland’s show is clearly very UIL focused, but dang is it very clean! They perform very well. We will for sure see them in finals, though I could see GE being a potential hindrance to their placement. Quote
Origin Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Wakeland!! They sound awesome on the stream! Sometimes a bit lacking in visual GE for me, but that drill move that looked like moving waves was so cool. Truly impressed with their musical power. The whole show is on, and it’s not the longest show, but there are so many great moments. I wish they were going to San Antonio this year. Parkwoodmom 1 Quote

Origin Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 This might be the best show that Timber Creek has ever done. Loved the sax ensemble so much. Some dirt overall, but lots and lots of difficulty. When they sound good, they sound GOOD. gregorydf01 1 Quote
jmj Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Quite blown away by Timber Creek! Love that Desert Rose ballad with guard and the blue flags in the middle of the band. Super job! gregorydf01 1 Quote
avgbandfan5 Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 WOW TIMBER CREEK, beautiful sounds by all the soloists and full band, i really like the color guard flags at the end of the ballad! gregorydf01 1 Quote
Origin Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Awesome low brass, Centennial! Really impressive performance for their size. Super cool percussion feature. Quote
jmartin1056 Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 I always love Coppell’s shows and this one is no exception. Awesome job! This is another show I think has the potential to do pretty well at UIL. gregorydf01 1 Quote
Origin Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Coppell - Wow, tons of props. The music is very fitting. Awesome large guard. Percussion is awesome too. Looks like the whole show is on the field. Just really really impressive all around. They always seem to get scored lower than I think they will, so hopefully that doesn’t happen this time. gregorydf01 and jmartin1056 2 Quote
jmj Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Great job, Coppell - that was so fun!! Humoresque as the ballad worked really well!! Quote
BandFan59 Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Wow, Coppell was phenomenal!! I love their new uniforms with the teal and maroon colors, it really makes them all stand out on the field. The ballad is BEAUTIFUL, with the many different colored flags and the two dancers in the center. They sound as good as they always have, and the visual book is excellently executed as well. This show is going to do excellent this season. Quote
