ViewFromTheBox Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 Johnson: Wow. Awesome show. There’s so much fun sprinkled throughout the performance. Add in a great sound and it’s an incredible spectacle. Great job, y’all! SavageBevo and BudaBandDad 2 Quote

ViewFromTheBox Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 Bowie: Yes, what a lovely show! Love the part of the ballad with the backfield playing and the great reverent off the back stands. And such power from the brass. Great performance! Quote
Popular Post jmj Posted October 31, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 31, 2021 So neat from Summit! This ballad is absolutely stunning, both how they play it and how it’s captured in the drill. Quadmom68, ViewFromTheBox, Spitfire78 and 1 other 4 Quote
ViewFromTheBox Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 Summit: I really don’t know what to say that I’ve already said. The growth of this program the last five years has been nothing short of an incredible! This show is so good all the way through. Y’all are playing music we never would have thought of on the field, and you perform it at a very high level. Probably me favorite show I’ve ever seen from Summit (and Spotlights is no slouch). Great job this year, y’all! Spitfire78 and Quadmom68 2 Quote

BandFan59 Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 93.6 is incredibly high for a regional. Scores might be a bit inflated here near the top. But Cedar Park is incredible this year and I'm so happy they finally have a BOA regional title. Definitely the favorite to win state again. Nny14 1 Quote

Popular Post jmj Posted October 31, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 31, 2021 Y’all, this one was so much fun! It was really cool to have a mostly 5A contest while the 6As were off at Area. Great tuneup for 5A state for a few and a great redemption for a few that just missed 5A state. SavageBevo, ViewFromTheBox, MikeKyu and 2 others 5 Quote
Popular Post LostChoirGuy Posted October 31, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 31, 2021 This makes me kind of wish that if BOA continues to add contests in Texas, they try to cater them to smaller bands. There are so many great 5A, 4A, and 3A bands that could be competitive in BOA but don't ever take the chance because the contests are flooded with 6A schools. I don't think it would be within MFA's mission to have an enrollment cap but one could imagine that would be cool. ViewFromTheBox, jmj and Spitfire78 3 Quote
Spitfire78 Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 12 - LASA - Austin area (but didn't have battery or really march much - wonderful show. I loved it) 11 - Burleson Centennial - DFW 10 - Midlothian - DFW 9 - Rock Hill - DFW 8 - Colleyville Heritage - DFW 7 - Summit - DFW 6 - Aledo - DFW 5 - Hendrickson - Austin area 4 - Johnson - Austin area 3 - Bowie - Austin 2 - Rouse - Austin area 1 - Cedar Park Austin area Weird coincidence? It's certainly unusual. Quadmom68 and WILKINSON 2 Quote

It's certainly unusual. Expand Not sure what you're implying or if you were at the contest but if you have followed the trajectory if these bands over the last several years (with a few exceptions) it doesn't appear unusual at all. If you were at the contest I'm sure you watched what happened on the field and the results shouldn't appear unusual. It is just a quirk of the contest. Quote
BandFan59 Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 Waco is basically the midpoint between Dallas and Austin. Not surprising to see finals made up of bands from those two major population centers. A lot of the 5A powerhouses are in the Austin area as well, and this event coinciding with 6A area meant a lot of 5A bands were here. Quote
Spitfire78 Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 Not implying anything. Just pointing out a weird coincidence. As far as the "trajectory", Summit was sandwiched between Hendrickson and Johnson in the final results at BOA Midland - they're certainly competing at that level. Aledo has a fantastic show too. I fully expect them to advance at state. I just found it unusual that there was such a geographic division in the results. Quote
MikeKyu Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 My wife and I both loved Aledo's show. It was our first time seeing them live this year. Great show and it will do well at state. Rock Hill really surprised me. They have a wonderful future at the pointy end of contests. Seeing Burleson Centennial bring out The Bluecoats Jagged Line stage was a treat. Them using the heck out of was cool. The percussion feature was a blast. DFW has been dominated by certain bands for a long time. If they were in attendance tonight I'm sure there wouldn't be such an odd co-inky-dink with final placements. Spitfire78 1 Quote
