I agree, I think its going to come down to who puts the best Finals run together, and then the difference in UIL scoring vs BOA scoring.

UIL scoring is so much closer to BOA scoring this year with the new sheets at State.  Looking forward to seeing all the wonderful, talented groups on the 1st and 8th!

Not exactly sure where to put this, but since 5A State is up first...

Leander ISD has five bands going to State this week and next (thanks to the Covid-inspired all classes State year).  If one more 5A band in Area H had received a 1 at Region, the number would be six.

Has any district seen anything like this before?

And how many medals will those five bands bring home?  It will be fun to watch!

Do yall think Friendswood could be a dark horse this year since they got new directors for the most part?

I don’t think they’re a dark horse just because of their next directors, Friendswood has always been a very good band with an outside shot at finals.

Trivia question: Has any band advanced to Finals the first time they made it to State?

Lebanon Trail has a 100% success rate to going to state, they did so in both 2019 and 2021. The school was established in 2016, 2017 they were 4A so they didn’t have a state competition
