Popular Post natertater21000 Posted November 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 8, 2021 First time seeing John B Alexander. I had no idea how many similarities there were between them and Vista. You'd think that choosing a show about Aliens with Katy Perry would pretty much guarantee that it's one of a kind for that season but not this time. Otherwise, schools farther away would get the more coveted Prelims times, and how is that fair? Expand Indiana split the difference pretty well for Semi-State, which is effectively their State prelims. The six closest draw for the first spot. Then for each following spot, you add the next closest group. That way, the closer groups are more likely to go first, but can still pull spots to the end. The furthest groups can at least spare an early performance—which could even potentially save a group thousands of dollars that not every program or school district necessarily has. Quote
FaultLineBlues Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 I'll say it time and time again, Cedar Ridge has made me so proud this season, even through director change after director change, this has been a record breaking year for them. HeyBandTX and CelesteKara 2 Quote
slowbrass Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 Timber Creek with some beef. I love Texas bands lol Quote

Popular Post slowbrass Posted November 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 8, 2021 Watched Hebron on the high cam. I don’t say this lightly, but they were cleaner than clean. I truly didn’t “get” the drill until this run. That was a 2012-esque run for them. HeyBandTX, CaptCornstarch, VinoGirl and 6 others 9 Quote
HeyBandTX Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 You know you’re good when you can get away with spelling out your name in the drill. Wow Hebron! VandyBandyFandy and VinoGirl 2 Quote

AlsoIntoSpace Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 Is anyone recording the performances? I have the livestream but there's some shows I haven't been able to see. I also selfishly want a recording of my alma mater (Carroll) but won't be able to record them with the computer I have. I'm sure someone out there is recording them, so if you'd send that folder (or even just my band once they go) my way I would greatly appreciate it. HeartOfTexas 1 Quote

Hard to compare when they have such differing approaches. Hebron has very difficult music and drill, doing both at the same time, and has a lot of incredible solos. Vandy is unmatched visuals and dance with beautifully integrated and performed music, with very few solos. Not sure how the judges even approach such diversity in show style. HeartOfTexas 1 Quote

Expand That's easily the best performance I've ever seen (or been in) from that program, even through a livestream. They've already had an incredible season and just being at state is an accomplishment, but they took it one step farther and gave *that* performance. I'll admit I'm a very biased alum but I sure hope they get a finalist spot, even though that'll be very difficult given the obvious strength of the competition.
