balumni2023 Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Oops I missed Lake Highlands. I swear they only announced 9 bands which was weird. The biggest surprise to me is Haltom not making the cut. Quote
Origin Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Nice to see Central back in area finals!! Quote

BandFan59 Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Prelims at UIL are always a mess, but I think judges are usually more focused on getting the right bands into finals than the actual rankings of the bands. Hopefully the judges will come to more of a consensus in finals. Quote

brassclass Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 I’m really interested to see how Coppell, Keller, and Duncanville finish. They were top 3 and yet they all perform first right after each other. Quote
josephbandfan Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Please don't tell me it's that same judge from 2018 lmaooo. Also this performance order 😵 Quote
BandDad4 Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Those scores are crazy. How does waxa get a 1 a 1 and a 12 Quote
brassclass Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 These are my finals predictions 1) Keller (extremely solid) *lock 2) Coppell (also extremely solid especially visually) *lock 3) Waxahachie (I think their performance time will help them and hopefully one judge doesn’t throw them off like in their prelims music) *lock 4) Duncanville (can never ever count these guys out) 5) Bell (I think they’re interchangeable with Dville but I think they’ll get in) 6) Timber Creek (I really do hope they aren’t 6th cause that would be terrible luck) 7) Carroll (they’ve come such a long way) 8. Lake Ridge 9) Lake Highlands 10) Central Quote
Origin Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Having the top 3 from prelims go first will *hopefully* help even out the scoring…and normally you’d want to go last, but I’d much rather perform when it’s 70 degrees rather than 60 Quote
HeartOfTexas Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 Do the judges remain the same? I am shocked to see Martin, Berkner, JJ Pierce, Mansfield and Haltom not make the finals. Glad to see both Carroll and Central there. Hope that Carroll ends up with the 5th slot. Parkwoodmom 1 Quote

Expand Apparently it’s the same 5 judges but they swap roles. (I’m onsite; one of the band directors told me that.) So maybe we’ll see the outlier scores in Marching instead of Music. This is Carroll’s first time to make Finals at Area since 2001 (they were 4A). I love a Cinderella story … would be so happy for them to take 5th slot … but they’ve got their work cut out for them. This parking lot is jammed w/ talent. HeartOfTexas 1 Quote
BandDad4 Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 What do the individual judges score for the three music scores? Which ones is woodwinds and or brass for example and which one is percussion? Quote
Popular Post wef Posted October 30, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 30, 2021 I feel so bad for Mansfield they had an amazing show and the crazy trombone solo at the end truly suprised they didn't make finals. Spitfire78, bLock and HeartOfTexas 3 Quote

Popular Post HeartOfTexas Posted October 31, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 31, 2021 At some point, the powers that be need to split up this area. We are getting a lot of GREAT bands left behind.
