Popular Post bandgeek7874 Posted November 12, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 12, 2021 Just wanted to put this post up to rave how amazing Hebron was this year. As a former Vandegrift alum who went there from 2016 - 2019, I have to say this was easily the greatest marching band show of all time. These kids sounded like a DCI group. I've never heard such a rich tone, powerful low brass, and technical proficiency from a high school group before and I just want to say thank you to all of the Hebron kids who just redefined how good a high school marching band can be. You've changed marching band forever and have taken this amazing art form we all love to a whole new level. You guys should feel like rockstars after performing that show and like I said before, thank you for all your hard work. You guys are the Michael Jackson's of marching band and pulled off the greatest marching band show of all time. FloMoParent, brassdragon, itsstephenyo and 13 others 16 Quote

J-Mike16 Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 I have been loving Hebron since 2015 and has always thought they were tied for my favorite high school band along with my former high school band. Well, now after this marching season, I can't help but to say that they are my #1. Every year they produce some of the BEST music I would say in the world. You legit can not beat them musically, IMO. I do not know what kind of water they drink, but I want it. Hebron showed us that COVID ain't stopping them and that they are THE HEBRON HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND! Would I say its the greatest show of all time? Hmmmm I don't know. I would for sure say its WAY WAY up there. I will say the opener is the BEST! I can not wait to watch their show again at the Rose Parade and of course, can not wait to see what kind of show they want to do to top this show! Whatever it is, we all better be ready to wipe eachother's skin off our faces! VinoGirl 1 Quote
slowbrass Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Lol. I love Hebron and it’s been crazy to see all the outpouring of admiration lately. But perhaps we should wait until a grand national champion is crowned before we start writing ballads of their greatness. SATXBandDad 1 Quote

Expand I'm definitely going to agree with this, we're a day or so away from watching more greatness up in Indy. I graduated from the Hebron Band 5 or 6 years ago and have kind of lost touch of the band at this point, but just seeing how happy Andy Sealy and the kids in those pinstriped uniforms were, brought back an enormous wave of nostalgia for this activity and community as a whole. I still remember hopping on these forums every once in a while after one of our competitions to see what people were saying, and so to come back and see all of these people happy that Hebron broke our curse made me super happy. Can't be thankful enough for what the Texas high school marching community has given to me in my life. slowbrass, MBBandMama, WILKINSON and 9 others 12 Quote
Tailgate88 Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 Hebron blew me away this year. Would have loved to see them make it to Grand Nats to face Broken Arrow, but I understand how expensive it is. I’m so impressed how marching band bounced back after a crazy last year of Covid! Quote
beffjezos Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 i think if they had went to nats they would have gotten a near perfect music score Quote

It’s crazy to think that an absurd score like that could have been in danger, but I have to agree. Quote
vistaridgefan42069 Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 avon 2010 was similarly technically impressive and clean to hebron this year, but idk if they did what they did with the sheer musicality and tonal purity hebron did it with this year Quote

Popular Post SomeBandNerd Posted December 12, 2021 Popular Post Posted December 12, 2021 If anyone is in the Lewisville area, Hebron will be doing a send-off performance of their show tomorrow night! Pull this information from a Facebook post: The Hebron's Band Tournament of Roses send off performance will be Monday, December 13th @ 7:00 pm at Hawk Stadium. For their sendoff to the Tournament of Roses parade, the Hebron Band will have an encore performance of their 1st Place BOA San Antonio and their Gold Medal State Marching Competition show titled “Pen Stripe" LeanderMomma, principalagent and MikeKyu 3 Quote
MikeKyu Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 I wish I could make it. Pinstriped was an amazing show and will do well to represent top flight marching band shows on a huge stage. Quote

Rubisco Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 Assuming I counted correctly and the info is up-to-date, Hebron had 24 (!) students make All-State this year. That's astonishing, and over twice as many as the "2nd place" groups. According to my counts: Hebron (24), Coppell (10), Hanna (10), Vandegrift (10), Clear Springs (9), The Woodlands (9), Claudia Taylor Johnson (8), Cypress Woods (8), Flower Mound (8), Cedar Park (7), Dawson (7), and Westwood (7). Is Honor Band for 6A this year? If so, good luck everyone! 🙃 Edit: Realized a couple of those Johnsons weren't CTJ. A few other Johnsons in the state! LeanderMomma and Vidal28 2 Quote

Expand I’ll just pull out some stats for how well they did in Area auditions: A Hebron student was first chair in: Piccolo, Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Alto Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, Contrabass Clarinet The first 5 trumpet chairs were from Hebron, which didn’t really surprise me as we all heard how good their trumpet section was in their marching show, compared to their main area competitors, and when you’re talking about Marcus and Flower Mound that says a lot👀 They had the second chair in three other sections not already named: bass clarinet, euphonium and horn with several sections having multiple students as well. What a great year for them, and I hope soon they can cap it off with a TMEA Honor band invitation soon! Quote

Unless I don't understand how All-State rankings work (since from what I remember, higher ranks pick which ensemble they perform in), Hebron actually had 26 All-Staters, but only one was "rank 1," the 1st chair Symphonic Orchestra flute player. (If that's just my mistake, please correct me!) Expand The original post about this was referring to the Area round, not All-State. Students start out within their own local region, I think there's typically two rounds of auditions at this level, and then advance to Area, and if they advance past the Area round they are All-Staters. So Hebron had a ton of first chairs at the Area level, not the All-State level. Definitely very easy to mix them up. Quote

MadisonBandMan1 Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Just got done watching the Tourney of Roses standstill performance they did in ponchos...good lord bass trombone. I could hear you in the State Finals performance video and you just sound even more meaty up close. J-Mike16 1 Quote
