Keyboard_Countessa Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 One of the things I love the most about being a percussionist is getting to play really cool ensemble pieces. In the 7th grade we played a piece called "Fresh Trash" on trashcans. We painted our sticks neon-green and lit the stage with black lights so they glowed. That same year we also played "Chiquita Express"; we decorated the stage with tropical stuff, wore leies, and during a drum break all the mallet players danced. My favorite from the 8th grade would have to be "Dance of the Wind-Up Toy", just because I love the way it sounds. So far my favorite piece from high school would be "Phantom Dances", which I played my freshman year in winter drumline. It was a challenge, but well worth the effort, and plus it gave me a chance to get to know some of the upperclassmen better and vice versa. So... what are some of your favorite percussion ensembles that you've seen/heard? Quote

Keyboard_Countessa Posted February 4, 2006 Author Posted February 4, 2006 Hey, some of us LIKE "middle school" ensembles like Teamwork. It was my first high school ensemble piece. So there. My lessons teacher has been hinting that he might want us to play Saber Dance at this year's Percussion Production. Anyone hear heard of it/played it? (Cause I haven't... ) Quote
