Origin Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Lake Travis is always a treat to watch and listen to. Great performance! Quote
packwick Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 RR was great, soooo much better than recent years. love how they played w/ the music. love a big booming low brass, tho it sometimes sounds a little unbalanced and wall of sound-ish, i.e. lacking finesse. really enjoyed the visual program even though it was quite dirty in parts. last flag statement was a little unfortunate. definitely still in finals contention tho. Probably my favorite from them since 2016. The front flats are very reminiscent of their 2013 show. Maybe a little lacking in GE here and there (I wish the show told more of a story), but they were very clean until the closer. I expect to see them again tomorrow! Expand I was recording the show to view again later when box 5 cut away.. I was not very happy. But thanks for putting a good spin on it. 😄 On 11/4/2022 at 8:09 PM, GeekBoy54 said: Round Rock was superb! The way they've experimented with the Rite of Spring is one of the best I've heard a high school put it on the field. For me, they are a finalist for sure! Expand Loved the rite of spring too, as well as the adagio. Quote
TrebleMaker2 Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Wow, Foster! What a cool show! First time I have seen this band! Quote
Band2021 Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 ahhhhh liberal arts and science academy that was amazing! I am really impressed with the musicality of this group. Never heard of them before. Quote
LostChoirGuy Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 I ran to get food since there are very few breaks today and missed MacArthur, LASA, and Legacy EE- any comments on how they were? I thought Sandra Day O'Connor was very good! They had some tuning issues but in my opinion made up for it with some really great GE moments. There is a reason some of those songs are performed so often, they really make for great shows. Quote
FaultLineBlues Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Churchill Fulshear's trombone soloist was killer! Side note: it's interesting that Bluecoats using Eleanor Rigby in a fast paced style has made that become the defacto way to perform the song. Vidal28 1 Quote
packwick Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 all these bands are so good. i reeeeally don't envy the judges. so many at a similar level. Zil and DaRen 2 Quote

Origin Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 You can tell that Hendrickson loves performing their show. So much energy! 1998-2018 and FaultLineBlues 2 Quote
FaultLineBlues Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 The strongest Hendrickson we've seen in years! I'm not too into some of the changes they made volume wise, but I understand why they happened. Finals is in the cards, but it's hard to make any certain statements. 1998-2018 1 Quote
DaRen Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 I think Hendrickson is so fun to watch….I really hope they make finals because I HAVE TO SEE THAT AGAIN!! Quote
packwick Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 great energy from Hendrickson. agreed. i see Cedar Park setting up and i'm Sarah Connor right now banging on the fence yelling at the children on the playground to take shelter before the atomic bomb goes off. Quote
BandFan59 Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Really energetic performance from Hendrickson! They've made massive improvements since the last time I saw them. There's still a bit of visual dirt for them to fix, and I think they'd benefit from more dynamic contrast since it seems to just be super loud the entire show. That said I think they've got a decent shot at sneaking into finals here and an even better shot at finals in Indianapolis. Quote
sogeg Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Really loved Cedar Park! My first time seeing them this season and they did not disappoint! A couple weaker moments here and there, a little bit of dirt, but they will have no trouble making it into finals! Quote
Origin Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 There needs to be a built in break after Cedar Park so everyone can pick up their faces. So much stronger of a concept than last year. Yeah, I would like a few more exposed/quieter moments for contrast, but I’m nitpicking because they’re at the highest level. Quote
packwick Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 i'm officially a limp skeleton clinging to a fence. sometimes it's just fun to get blasted like that. Quote
GeekBoy54 Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Cedar Park! Great controlled energy, amazing contrast in emotion within the music, and the level of execution is unmatched. No wonder they're back-to-back (x4) state champs! DaRen 1 Quote
MikeKyu Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Hendrickson looked and sounded great. They are in the GN Train and peaking at the right time. Cedar Park floored me. Their dynamic control and clarity today were incredible. Quote
Popular Post sogeg Posted November 4, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 4, 2022 WESTWOOD!!! Incredibly well done! (it took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize it was a wizard of oz show 💀) DaRen, BandFan95, Zil and 1 other 2 2 Quote
peshbandkid Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 (i know I’m late but) HENDRICKSON WHAT ON EARTH? THAT WAS HOT!!! Quote
sogeg Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Rouse! This was my first time seeing any show of theirs and the hype is definitely worth it!! FOR SURE in the finals conversation, well done!! Quote
Origin Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Rouse has it figured out. Everything just flows so perfectly. Quote
GeekBoy54 Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Whoever's idea it was to combine the planets and clair de lune is a genius. Rouse achieves at a high level on the ensemble and those soloists are just so in synch, the use of flutes throughout the show is a nice touch! Quote
