Dallas Hobbs Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Just checked the prelims scores on hornrank. Apparently my prediction of vista ridge in 7th or 8th was more accurate in prelims than in finals. They were the former. Also Hebron got 1st from every judge except music ensemble in prelims! 🤯 Quote

lost Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Genuine question, Dripping Springs always seems to do significantly better in UIL than BOA. Much more than quite literally any other band. Whats their secret to their perpetual UIL success and why doesn’t it transfer to BOA? Quote
Origin Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Looks like the top 14 was actually quite definitive after prelims. The top 14 all scored over a 90 in prelims! I thought Westlake would be at least a few places higher. Keller top 4 in their panel over Marcus, wow! Incredible showing for all the Keller schools actually. Quote

Tubalord11 Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Here are all the changes in top 14 from prelims to finals: Hebron: no change Woodlands: 3rd to 2nd Reagan: 2nd to 3rd Vandegrift: 5th to 4th Vista: 7th to 5th CTJ: no change Flower Mound: 4th to 7th Round Rock: 13th to 8th!!!!! That's massive, congrats!!! Cedar Ridge: 11th-9th Cedar Park: 8th-10th Coppell: 9th-11th Pearland: 14th-12th Marcus: 12-13th Keller: 10th-14th So top and bottom 7 were the same, but almost everyone moved up or down a spot! Biggest change was RR, jumping up 5 spots, and the next Keller dropping down 4. A crazy comp for sure Quote

A crazy comp for sure My finals predictions for Keller, coppell, Pearland, and Ronald Reagan were inaccurate for finals but accurate for prelims. This keeps happening! 🤦🏾♂️ And comparing my finals predictions with prelims placements I was one off for flower mound and vista ridge (should’ve stuck with my first thought!) Hebron And CTJ were right on the money in both rounds. And the others were either a little further off or way off in either round. Edited November 6, 2022 by Dallas Hobbs Quote
Marchingbandperson Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 I think the most shocking thing for me was westlake having a lower score here than BOA North Texas, and getting beat by Keller central, who they had beat by more than 7 points at North Texas crunchycookie3 and Tubalord11 2 Quote
Tubalord11 Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Another thing to note, if Hebron had won visual GE, they would have scored a 97.55, getting the new San Antonio SR record. Tbh, it’s kinda frustrating that they didn’t. I don’t see what changed from prelims to finals, almost like the judge either hated them or something, but they deserved the record. dfwbandmom 1 Quote

I think we’ll see groups placing around 30th that would be top- half super regional finalists in STL and Indy. Nearly confirmed by Lake Travis this year (8th at STLSR, 30th at SASR.) Also, a bit shocked that panel 1 judges allowed a 4-point gap between Cedar Ridge and Westlake. That allowed panel 2 to slot 7 bands between the two. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely do not miss the days of one panel to judge them all. Both formats definitely have their drawbacks. Also, a bit dumbfounded to see Cy-Fair in 26th place—especially with a 7th place score in ensemble music. This contest is crazy! Placing in the top 40 at this contest is more difficult than making semis at nats! Congrats to all! Quote
JohnSmith Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Wow by Cedar Ridge, I think this was their best performance by far and I could've agreed with them getting top 5. Also congrats to Hebron for winning for the 2nd time in a row and also beating last year's score by 2 points, I'm pretty sure they've already won state. Quote

Another way to see it is that for that final friday block of panel 1, having three of the top 6 in one block to end the night, it both paid and didn’t pay to be in that block. All of KISD and Leander got grouped so close together. Had they performed at vastly different points of the contest we could’ve seen something totally different lhbenlee and crunchycookie3 2 Quote
