Friendswood, Forney and Sachse with some incredible shows!!! Tons of musicianship from the bands with plenty of dynamic color and different "moods"!!! Today has already been such a blast with some incredible talent!!!

Friendswood was amazing! They sounded and looked incredible, with such great sounds and such an entreating show! They should place well here today I'd imagine.

forgot to say how impressed i was w/ Forney for tackling the Hindemith symphony on the field. talk about a challenge. big big biiig sounds too for what looked like a smaller band. also had to do another WGI guard look up for them. hahaha.

not to fall too much into the trap of TX arrogance, that said i think the obvious correct answer is "enough to fill the entire Indianapolis finals at least twice over."

With Marcus coming up next and probably a sure thing for Finals, of the last seven bands that have been on, anyone feel that one of those could make finals?

That's a trick question. We all know the answer in None. These are inferior shows that are played at a level that would not allow entry into the State of Indiana.

Randomly stumbled across this forum today & so thankful that I did. I thought all discussions nowadays had moved over to the likes of Facebook & Discord, so was pleasantly surprised to find such an active, passionate, & articulate group of folks here!

As an old band-head with a young kiddo experiencing his first BOA SA SR competition this weekend, I'm truly in awe at just how many incredible programs are in attendance. I can't even begin to imagine just how difficult of a job it must be for the judging panels to accurately & fairly rank 80+ bands over the course of 2 days. It certainly seems like a 3rd day with Semi-Finals & Finals could be warranted (if only that were feasible)!

Looking forward to the remaining prelim performances + what is likely to be a night of jam-packed action and sheer brilliance. Regardless of the results, I hope that everyone walks away feeling supremely proud of their efforts and knowing that their hard work is absolutely appreciated!

Cypress Woods? 

 

Coppell is my only lock, but Marcus Hebron and the Woodlands are also locks assuming they do how they always do

I've only seen the last 4 or 5 groups, but of those, I think Cy Fair is in the thick of the finals race and I think Sachse and Forney were right up with a lot of the other bubble groups, though I don't think they will have enough to make it in.

Marcus: WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW!!! They are still the Marcu Concert Marching band!!! They amount of dynamics, control, volume and just overall skill is unreal!!! By far the best of the day, and I could see another medal headed their way at state this year! Those soloist are on a godly level once again, playing like they belong in the New York philharmonic!!! I mean wow, just so beautiful!!!

Also yeah, no this doesn’t come from arrogance at all, everyone’s watching the same thing and would say dispassionately, without any gusto that at least 24 bands from here could make finals at the Indy SR. Just facts lol

Edit: hmmm…twice over would actually be 28 for a SR hmmm… point still stands haha

i mean if you keep crowing about how TX bands are the best instead of just letting it speak for itself, it does run into ego and arrogance. i think that's obvious.

I’ve only made one statement of the sort regarding Texas bands and the other marquee BOA competitions. There’s always a bit of push and pull when it comes to  different regions talking about what they’re best at. It’s BOASA weekend, it’s fine to acknowledge it

sorry that was more of a general "you" than "you you." i don't know what comments u have made specifically, but i do know there's a lot of chest thumping on this forum.
