BandDad4 Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 I'm very curious about the spread between Keller, TC, and Bell and how Waxa also fit in more than I care about the typical top ReveriesOp24 1 Quote
Popular Post ReveriesOp24 Posted October 9, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 9, 2022 My high school was in 6A Area D, so I got my fair share of “holy ****” watching the Austin/San Antonio bands. Today was my first time seeing the DFW Bands, and… HOLY ****! Hebron, Marcus AND Flower Mound are so much more better in person than on camera, and they’re even so great on camera too! I was also really impressed by quite a few of the bands that arent in Finals. Congrats to all of the bands that competed tonight! Vidal28, FloMoParent and VinoGirl 3 Quote
Gehrig4 Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Martin’s music was excellent and some very interesting moves too! Waxa uniforms were great and their finish was fantastic. Quote
Popular Post symphbee Posted October 9, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 9, 2022 Rock Hill!!! That was the CUTEST thing I have ever seen!! Can’t believe this school is so young. Great Job! VinoGirl, Band Dad 2021 and Spitfire78 3 Quote

symphbee Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 After the first 6 bands - I cannot BELIEVE the quality here tonight. You could’ve told me this was the top half of finals and I would have believed you. VinoGirl and Minimaster 2 Quote
Origin Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Really enjoying Waxahachie! This years show is much easier to understand than last year. All the uniforms are so cute! I bet the kids at James Martin are ecstatic to be back in finals here after missing at Houston and being underestimated here. Great show! It’s so impressive what Rock Hill has accomplished in just a few year. This show is so fun and the guard does an amazing job selling it. I’m impressed that Keller was able to get the whole show out there by this competition. I always consider them to be some of the ones that take the longest. The second half of the show actually felt a bit tighter than what came before? I guess that’s the trade off with learning the show quickly, not as much time to clean the older stuff! Hoping that the visual program keeps evolving through the season. Lone Star is bringing tons of energy! They are really connecting with the show theme. Big brash sounds. Maybe a bit too unrestrained at times, but I guess that’s what this show calls for. Clean visual program. Very very nice show from Timber Creek. They really give a wide range of dynamics. The props look great and create a cool effect when turned around. Up there with Keller as the best of the bottom half for me. Vidal28 1 Quote
Origin Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 LD Bell’s yellow plumes are very cute. The show is very beautiful and visually stunning. So colorful! Still not a top half music performance, imo. Quote

Popular Post Origin Posted October 9, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 9, 2022 That opening high brass statement from Wakeland is just so clear! Wow! Would love to see them medal or even win next week. VinoGirl, Vidal28 and Band Dad 2021 3 Quote

This year’s show - in my opinion - is far more ambitious than in years past and they have proven that they have the chops to compete at a high level. I’m so happy for them, and I think this is a really defining moment for their program. Quote
Popular Post Origin Posted October 9, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 9, 2022 Marcus makes their very challenging music sound so easy. Not many bands have that power. Can’t wait to see the rest of the show! VinoGirl, Vidal28 and FloMoParent 3 Quote

BandFan59 Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Super strong performances from Wakeland, Marcus, and Coppell. After seeing these three so close to each other last week, it feels like they've all made massive improvements this week. I've no idea how I would rank them. Quote

Popular Post BandFan59 Posted October 9, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 9, 2022 One thing I will say about Flower Mound is they consistently have some of the most creative shows in the country and pull them off spectacularly. Never would I have imagined a show about Dr. Seuss be so incredible, and while this year isn't my favorite show from them I can't deny that they're doing a brilliant job with the "Superband" comic book theme. They epitomize cleanliness both musically and visually, and while the show loses me a bit towards the end of the bassoon feature and drum break (it gets a little muddled for me when all the other woodwind soloists join in) they drag me back in right after, with the ending being just wonderful to listen to. Great show! FloMoBandMom, FloMoParent and VinoGirl 3 Quote

They just didn’t wanna stay the whole day😂 but we did watch all of prelims and I’m watching the stream now. Probably a good choice mostly ‘cause I’m finding myself exhausted now😪 And yes this finals and all the bands participating have been REAL GOOD, and now we’re finishing it off one band left to go! Minimaster Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Yeah…Good luck to anybody trying to beat Hebron this year, because it ain’t happening. They are on the same level as last year. Vidal28 1 Quote

Popular Post BandFan59 Posted October 9, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 9, 2022 The only word I could use to describe Hebron right now is glorious. There isn't a band in the country that plays better than them. The technical abilities of the students there is absolutely insane. I don't think there are enough words for me to truly describe how good this band is. VinoGirl, Minimaster, Origin and 4 others 7 Quote

Origin Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Here’s how I saw things: Hebron Flower Mound Marcus Wakeland Coppell Keller/ Timber Creek Timber Creek/ Keller LD Bell Waxahachie Lone Star Rock Hill James Martin I know this is probably very incorrect. The likelihood of actual movement between bottom and top half is very small. wef and Dave609 2 Quote
